Hopefully, everyone survived the Midnight Madness and Black Friday frenzy with wallets intact and your holiday shopping list whittled down to almost nothing left to buy! I was truthfully surprised that some of the deep discounts I was counting on for some of my personal treasures were not as deep as I would have preferred! I think what some retailers did this year was try to get a jump on the spending by offering Black Friday deals as early as two weeks before Black Friday. Of course, I wasn’t going to be fooled by that ploy so I held out until the big day itself. Perhaps the joke was on me! Lesson learned, if you find something you really want with a discount that is reasonable and you can afford, don’t hold out. Grab it!
Of course, having said that, I will plant a small seed in your head. If you don’t really need the item right now and you already bought for family and friends, then hold out for January. It is usually a great month for steals and deals.
If you are a cyber-space shopper, keep in mind that you need to allow for shipping time for your items to arrive pre-Christmas. One thing that has served me well in the past is to have gift items shipped directly to the recipient. This saves on the extra week which would be required for wrapping, re-addressing, and delivering to your favorite mail service.

While you are out searching for your holiday gifts, remember that ringing in the New Year just may require and new trinket or two for yourself. It just makes you feel happy to welcome the new year wearing something that makes you feel and look good. Perhaps your find will be one of the BOGO deals that are still out there. I recently found some beautiful scarves at my favorite Chico’s that wasn’t quite a BOGO, but close, “buy-one-get-one 50% off”. It worked for me since the one that I had to buy was already discounted. I just enjoy the game of shopping, which is why I rarely will bring a spouse or friend along. I really do spend time searching for the find and comparing prices. Happy Shopping!
