It's been said that when a factory closes back East, five thousand new comics hit the road! It's true that there is an abundance of comics working all over the country but only the best play Las Vegas. For the comedy lover, and who isn't, this week is a feast better than any buffet in town.

The Smothers Brothers opened on Tuesday at the Las Vegas Hilton and will remain in residence until June 28th. Opening the show is Gary Mule Deer. One of the most successful comedy teams in history, the Smothers are true American comedic treasures. Their blend of comedy and music, along with a special appearance by the "Yo-Yo Man," appeals to all ages. It's impossible to guess which one was "mom's favorite!"

The unmatchable Carrot Top opens in the Hollywood Theater at the MGM Grand on Thursday. A Carrot Top show is a comedy and rock-n-roll spectacle with lasers, lights, loud music, pyrotechnics and fluorescent trunks filled to over flowing with handmade props. The bits and pieces of his show he is able to perform on the late night talk shows are very small examples of the excitement level and hilarity of the hour and forty minutes he offers a live audience.

David Brenner and Kevin Pollak bring their stand-up comedy to Le Theatre des Arts at Paris Las Vegas June 19-23. After September 11th After September 11, Brenner's "Laughter to the People" tour took him to almost every state in the country. He has appeared on "The Tonight Show" a record 158 times! Pollak remains true to his stand-up roots as he tours the country between movie projects and appears regularly on late night talk shows.

Jon Stewart, star of "The Daily Show, with Jon Stewart" on Comedy Central and special guest John Pinette will be at the Aladdin for one night only on June 21st. Stewart is considered one the country's top social and comedic voices. One look at Pinette and everyone remembers his classic Chinese all-you-can-eat buffet bit. "You go now... we all out of food!" Talk about belly laughs!

The Comedy Stop at the Tropicana presents three comic headliners each week beginning on Mondays. This week Tommy Blaze, Joe Mulligan and R.C. Smith offer up hilarious comedy at 8:00 (non-smoking) and 10:30 pm, nightly.

Amazing Johnathan appears at the Golden Nugget Tuesdays through Sundays at 10 pm. The "Freddie Kruger of Comedy," as he's been dubbed, takes comedy magic to new heights. In the past few years, his new assistant and partner, Psychic Tanya, has been a wonderful addition to his show. She plays the perfect foil to his misdirected illusions and is so superbly funny that audiences are going crazy for this new comic partnership. If you haven't witnessed this new dynamic duo...GO SEE IT!

Soft-spoken Rita Rudner, appearing in the Cabaret Theatre at New York, New York, has a lot to say about men and women and their struggles to co-exist. This hilarious lady dressed in a beautiful gown, is the mistress of understatement.

Talk to you next week! Until then, be sure to keep laughing because LAUGHTER IS THE BEST MEDICINE for all that ails us!
