'SLOTZILLA' ZOOM-ZIPLINE WILL BECOME DOWNTOWN ATTRACTION!
The Fremont Street Experience plans to build a new permanent zipline attraction called SlotZilla. The $11 million attraction will have an 11-story slot-machine-themed takeoff platform with riders “being the jackpot” exiting through the pay table and coin tray. Construction will begin after New Year's with the attraction opening in June 2013.
SlotZilla will be a two-level thrill ride. Riders on the upper Zoomline will take off over 100 feet above ground and lie flat in a harness while being launched via a new kind propulsion launch system to zoom 1,700 feet through and under the Fremont Street Experience canopy. Riders on the lower Zipline take off about 70 feet above ground and zip 850 feet to a mid-point landing platform. Tickets are projected to be $20 for the Zipline, $30 for the Zoomline or $40 for both.
In order to build this ride, the current temporary zipline Flightlinez is closed for a short time to move so that the ride can remain open during construction.

VDKA WILL OPEN AT ENCORE
The new martini mecca VDKA with more than 150 flavored vodkas will open adjunct to Andrea's the hip Asian dining concept also opening on Dec. 28 in Encore at Wynn. The vodka bar, operated by Sean Christie's Las Vegas Nightlife Group, will feature Las Vegas' largest selection of rare and unique brand flavor-infused vodkas. VKDA will have the city's only “Shock-A-Vodka” speed draft system which will instantly deliver perfectly chilled vodka from a tap.
9GROUP OPENS SCARLET AT THE PALMS
The 200-square-foot Scarlet with a speakeasy feel will open this month at the Palms on the casino floor and have an elaborate mixology program.
KOREAN SUPERSTAR PSY VISITS PURE NIGHTCLUB
Korean singer and dancer Park Jae-sang, better known as PSY, will celebrate his birthday with a special live performance Saturday, Dec. 29 at PURE Nightclub inside Caesars Palace. The record-breaking artist will perform his infectious hit single “Gangnam Style” and more.
WRANGLER NATIONAL FINALS RODEO OFFERS MANY EVENTS
The Wrangler National Finals Rodeo (WNFR) happening Dec. 6-15 at the Thomas and Mack Center on the UNLV campus, will have the top 15 contestants in bareback riding, steer wrestling, team roping, saddle bronc riding, tie-down roping, barrel racing and bull riding competing for a share of the $6.125 million purse.
The Fremont Street Experience will welcome cowboys and country music fans for the 26th Annual Downtown Hoedown on Wed., Dec. 5 beginning at 4:30 p.m. with free live concerts on three stages. The entertainment lineup includes country music's Dustin Lynch, Uncle Kracker, Jana Kramer and Clay Walker.
The Cowboy Christmas Gift Show will return with more than 400 vendors to the Las Vegas Convention Center for shopping from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Dec. 6-15. Admission is free.
New this year is the first Cowboy Fan Fest located adjacent to the Cowboy Christmas Gift Show and running concurrently. Fan Fest also includes live stage performances by Academy of Country Music artists, themed food and specialty drinks, exhibitions, mutton bustin', rodeo 101 clinics, live acts, fashion shows and much more. It's free and open to the public.
'AMERICAN COUNTRY AWARDS' TAKES PLACE AT MANDALAY BAY
The third-annual “American Country Awards” will be held Monday, Dec. 10 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center and allow country music fans to vote for their favorite artists. Hosted by Trace Adkins and Kristin Chenoweth, the event will feature appearances by Scotty McCreery, Lauren Alaina, Casey James, LeAnn Rimes, Lee Brice, Jana Kramer, Dustin Lynch and Chris Young, Jason Aldean, Lady Antebellum, Dierks Bentley, Luke Bryan and Little Big Town. COUNTRY HEADLINERS DESCEND ON LAS VEGAS DURING WNFR
Comedian, actor and writer Rodney Carrington will return to the Hollywood Theatre at MGM Grand from Dec. 6- 15 with nightly 10 p.m. shows. Carrington has recorded eight comedy albums including “Hangin' with Rodney” and “Morning Wood.” Tickets are $69.99 and $89.99.

Celebrating their 20th anniversary, country super-group Lonestar will perform their greatest hits at The Orleans Showroom Dec. 7 and 8.Originally formed in Nashville in 1992, Lonestar played more than 500 shows before landing a recording contract and releasing their self-titled debut in 1995. Recently reunited with original lead singer Richie McDonald, Lonestar is working on a new album and released their current single, “The Countdown” in August. TWAIN, MCGRAW AND HILL ALL OPEN ON THE STRIP
Shania Twain has just opened her brand new show, “Shania: Still the One,” kicking off her two-year residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace.
The Venetian will welcome Tim McGraw and Faith Hill with their “Soul2Soul” show for a limited engagement starting Dec. 7 and covering 10 weekends through April 2013. “Soul2Soul” marks the first time in six years that McGraw and Hill have performed together in the United States.
WNRF RODEO MEANS PARTY TIME
PBR Rock Bar inside Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood will have nightly parties during WNFR hosted by professional bull riders and Miss Rodeo America 2011, McKenzie Haley. The Strip-side destination will host performances by Blacktop Gypsy, Phil Hamilton, Austin Allsup and the Ryan Whyte Maloney Band, along with a bull-riding competition with $500 in cash and prizes from Dec. 6-15.

MISS UNIVERSE CONTESTANTS CREATE ART FOR CHARITY
Many of the 2012 Miss Universe Pageant contestants will create a piece of art on Monday, Dec. 10 at 7 p.m. at Planet Hollywood. The finished pieces will be photographed alongside the Miss Universe contestant who created it and bidders worldwide will have the opportunity to bid on the artwork at http://mydesignandwine.com/auctions/. The new show at The Plaza downtown, “The Phat Pack,” will donate a portion of their ticket proceeds to Easter Seals Nevada through Jan. 29. Downtown's First Friday on Dec. 7 will be a winter wonderland to celebrate giving. “Da Vinci – The Genius” will return to First Friday with a “mini exhibition” as a part of the new collaboration pods – a tent shared by local artists and galleries.
