Prince is setting up home in Las Vegas after signing up to headline Club Rio nights every Friday and Saturday for the foreseeable future. Tickets are $125, call 702-777-7776. The club will be renamed 3121 after Prince's most recent album for the late-night concerts, which began Nov. 10. The pop superstar will be moving into the Rio hotel during the run.

Prince will use his new Las Vegas club to highlight new talent every Wednesday and he'll stage a Latin club night every Thursday. The pop perfectionist is also keen to make sure fans dining at his new club eat in style - a menu has been created by one of Prince's favorite chefs, Lena Morgan.

Inspired by the spirit of The Beatles and created by Cirque du Soleil, The Beatles REVOLUTION Lounge is set to open in December at The Mirage. Opening its doors only six months after the launch of The Beatles "LOVE," extravaganza at the hotel will offer an extended experience before and after the show.

This is the first time Cirque du Soleil is creating a nightlife experience in Las Vegas. REVOLUTION will be operated by INK, the premier nightclub operator in Toronto, currently managing seven successful nightlife complexes in Canada.

The Abbey Road Bar, which will be located in front of the main entrance of REVOLUTION, will be open daily from 11 a.m. The REVOLUTION Lounge will be open nightly from 5 p.m. until 5 a.m. Each night at the 400-capacity ultra-lounge, there will be a specific musical direction. A DJ will make a musical progression through the evening from strictly Beatles music, to funky lounge remixes, house, rock, electro, new wave and Brit pop.

Lake Las Vegas Resort will be treating visitors to an old-fashioned holiday celebration, with a 7:30 p.m. ceremonial tree lighting, appearance by Santa Claus and a special 45-minute musical selection from singer Clint Holmes on Friday, Nov. 17. The event is free and open to the public. In addition, there will be complimentary hot chocolate and treats from Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory and ice skating on the 40-foot by 70-foot floating ice rink that accommodates up to 60 skaters at a time. The MonteLago Village Floating Ice Rink will be open through Jan. 15 to the public daily at a cost of $12 per person for an all-day pass. Skating times vary by month. The Broadway Bound Divas will perform, Dec. 2-16, at 1 p.m.

Another holiday activity is a Gingerbread House Competition with three categories: Teen and Youth; Home Cooks and Culinary Students; and Professional Chefs. Entry forms must be received by Nov. 27, call 702-564-1600. The gingerbread houses will be on display at the resort from Dec. 2 to 23.

This year, Las Vegas' four-hour plus New Year's Eve celebration will air exclusively on DIRECTV's "CD USA" with a lineup that includes live performances from chart toppers Five for Fighting, All-American Rejects, Rockstar:SuperNova, Smash Mouth, OK Go and Chicago.

Partygoers at the Las Vegas venue will have access to two stages located at either end of the four-block mammoth screen that will feature a simulcast of the band performances. The entire four blocks and 200,000 square feet of the downtown Vegas venue will be gated, with access granted only to ticket holders. Fremont Street will be replete with outdoor bars and vendors, easy access to casino gambling, numerous restaurants, and other guest-friendly amenities. All ticket holders must be at least 18 years old. Tickets are $80 per person and available on their website.

Each year, hundreds of thousands of tourists and locals alike gather in Las Vegas for the world-renowned New Year's Eve celebration known as America's Party. This citywide event encompasses activities throughout the entire destination including a pyrotechnic display launched from nine rooftops on the Las Vegas Strip.

In celebration of its fifth anniversary at the Venetian, the Guggenheim Hermitage Museum has opened a new exhibit, Robert Mapplethorpe and the Classical Tradition, which will run through February 2007.

The display explores the dialogue between the photographs of Robert Mapplethorpe (1946-1989) and classical art, in particular late-16th-century Flemish Mannerist prints, through the engravings and woodcuts of Hendrick Goltzius, Jan Harmensz, Muller, Jacob Matham, and Jan Saenredam. Deeply rooted in Italian art, Mannerism was an international movement that arose after the death of Raphael in 1520.

Improvisational comedy will get a fresh twist on Nov. 20 when TBS, a division of Turner Broadcasting System, Inc., airs Jim Henson Company's "PUPPET UP! - Uncensored," a one-hour special taped before a live audience at The Comedy Festival in Las Vegas. The program, in which puppeteers construct improvised scenes from the audience's suggestions, will tape Wednesday, Nov. 15, at 7 p.m. and 10:30 p.m.

"PUPPET UP! - Uncensored" is a demonstration of what happens when the perilous and provocative forms of traditional comedy improv are mixed with a bunch of irreverent puppets brought to life by world-renowned puppeteers. Premiering in March 2006, the show has played to sold-out crowds at both the HBO Comedy Festival and the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

The talent lineup for the live all-star comedy event "Comic Relief 2006" to be seen Saturday, Nov. 18 on HBO and TBS will include: Roseanne Barr, Lewis Black, Louis C.K., cast members from "Desperate Housewives" (Ricardo Chavira, James Denton, Doug Savant), cast members from "Entourage" (Kevin Connolly, Kevin Dillon, Jerry Ferrara, Adrian Grenier, Jeremy Piven), Mike Epps, Susie Essman, D.L. Hughley, Jimmy Kimmel, George Lopez, Bill Maher, Ray Romano, Rebecca Romijn, Rita Rudner, Steve Schirripa, Sarah Silverman and Debra Wilson. In addition, pre-taped pieces will feature appearances by Howie Mandel, Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert, and Triumph the Insult Comic Dog.

The special taking place at Caesars Palace will be hosted by Billy Crystal, Whoopi Goldberg and Robin Williams. Donations are already being accepted at 800-528-1000.


Hawaiian-born singer Alben recently did a month's gig at the "V" Theater inside Desert Passage at the Aladdin with a live band, back up singers, six dancers and costume changes. Alben has been studying voice for the past 20 years and is well known on the islands. He's performs in Las Vegas about once a year so watch for his next visit.

To honor the men and women of the United States Armed Forces, Madame Tussauds Las Vegas is offering one complimentary admission to its interactive wax attraction to all active members of the U.S. military and all U.S. veterans during November. Military personnel and veterans must present valid identification at the box office.

Tickets are on sale for the 2006 Billboard Music Awards that is being aired live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in December; call 702-474-4000. This year's performers are expected to include Janet Jackson, Mary J. Blige, The Killers and Gwen Stefani. Tony Bennett will receive the Century Award, "Billboard" magazine's highest accolade.

SKYLOFTS at MGM Grand, one of only five Las Vegas hotels to earn this honor, debuted in January 2005 as a rare and private sanctuary of 51 two-story accommodations with expansive views of the Las Vegas skyline.

Culinary history was made in Las Vegas when legendary chef JoČl Robuchon opened his first fine dining restaurant in the United States at MGM Grand in September 2005. Named "Chef of the Century" along with scores of other accolades and honors, Chef JoČl Robuchon presents unparalleled cuisine in a stunning setting.

MGM Mirage's Project CityCenter has opened a Residential Gallery inside the Bellagio to give prospective purchasers the opportunity the get a close-up view of the plans for the $7 billion master plan scheduled to open late 2009. The gallery is open daily from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Palace Station's "Pit 8," which features Pai Gow Poker, Pai Gow Tiles and Mini Baccarat, is known as the casino's Asian gaming pit. Earlier this month, Pit 8 became the first casino in Las Vegas to offer tableside food service in a public pit with a traditional noodle menu available everyday from 6 p.m.-midnight. Casinos in Asia and card rooms in California already provide this service on a regular basis.

The Las Vegas Hilton's new poker radio show invites listeners to watch the show, which airs live every Monday at 3 p.m. on KLAV, 1230 on the AM dial.

The fourth annual Rockabilly Rod Reunion will be held at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Oct. 5 and 6, 2007. The event will feature multiple stages of rockabilly music, a pin-up girl contest, car show for pre-1965 traditional hot rods and customs as well as nostalgia exhibition racing on the drag strip. The Society of Seven, one of Las Vegas's top attractions after being transplanted from Hawaii where they were headliners for more than three decades, will be inaugurated into the Las Vegas Walk of Stars on Tuesday, Nov. 28. The ceremony starts at 2 p.m. at the Flamingo Showroom where the group now appears, Wednesdays-Sundays at 3 p.m. SOS has performed in Las Vegas in the past at the old Thunderbird, Sahara, Golden Nugget, Aladdin and Bally's.

Society of Seven with featured singer Lani Misalucha will serve as special guest hosts for Ethel M® Chocolates' 13th Annual Holiday Cactus Lighting. The spectacular holiday light show will be free for public viewing from Nov. 16, 2006 through to Jan. 1, 2007.

For the first time ever, the annual Adult Video News Awards Show is being opened up to the public on Saturday, Jan. 13 at Mandalay Bay. The 24th annual installment is being hosted by three-time AVN Award-winner Jessica Drake, along with comedian Jim Norton. Tickets range from $100 - $250; call 702-474-4000.

Officials for The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway have announced their NHRA-sanctioned event schedule for the 2007 drag racing season. The line up features a total of seven special races, highlighted by two NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series national events and several sportsman racing programs. After a couple years in the planning, the Downtown Cocktail Room, a new Fremont Street watering hole, is expected to open this month.

The 12th annual Las Vegas Holiday Food & Wine Tasting will take place on Monday, Nov. 20 at the MGM Grand Conference Center. More than 100 casino and restaurant chefs will be honored. Admission is open to food and beverage industry executives and their guests; call 1-800-728-4007.

The Amazing Johnathan, who stars in his own Las Vegas show at the Sahara, features all-new comedy magic in the world premiere of Comedy Central's one-hour special "The Amazing Johnathan: Wrong on Every Level," debuting on Saturday, Nov. 18 at 10 p.m. The show was filmed at the Hudson Theatre in New York City,

Celebrated country singer and former Las Vegan, Lee Greenwood, best known for his patriotic anthem "God Bless the USA," will debut a new song paying homage to Nevada at the Nevada Commission on Tourism's annual Governor's Conference on Tourism Dec. 11-13 at the Silver Legacy hotel-casino in Reno. He'll perform his new song at the conference's closing luncheon Wednesday, Dec. 13.

Many shows will go dark for a period of time in December. "MAMMA MIA!," the smash hit musical at Mandalay Bay based on the songs of ABBA, will be closed Dec. 4-21 and on Dec. 31.

AAA has awarded SKYLOFTS at MGM Grand and Joël Robuchon with the highly coveted Five Diamond Award, an accolade that recognizes these establishments among the most elite hotels and restaurants in the world.

For 2007, AAA evaluated more than 60,000 hotels and dining establishments across the United States, Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean throughout a 12-month period. Of those, only 93 resorts and 58 restaurants earned the esteemed AAA Five Diamond designation.
