SAHARA SIGN VANISHES TO MAKE ROOM FOR SLS!
The famous Sahara sign on the Strip came down last week as part of a project to transform the iconic Las Vegas casino into the SLS Las Vegas, the high-end resort project announced in January 2012. The company expects to spend upwards of $750 million on the project and to open in early 2014. The Sahara closed in 2011 after 59 years of operation.

DEADMAU5 JOINS HAKKASAN LAS VEGAS AT MGM GRAND
Hakkasan Las Vegas at MGM Grand has announced that dance music phenomenon deadmau5 will begin appearing at the new restaurant and nightclub complex and at the WET REPUBLIC Ultra Pool. Based in Toronto, Grammy-nominated deadmau5 has made a name globally. He became the first electronic dance music artist to grace the cover of "Rolling Stone," appeared at the 54th annual Grammy Awards in 2012, marking the first-ever televised celebration of electronic music, and has made four critically-acclaimed albums.

'RECYCLED PERCUSSION' OPENS WITH BANG AT THE QUAD
"Recycled Percussion," a truly audience interactive show, has kicked off its two-year residency at The Quad in the Q Theater. The show has been a staple on the Strip for more than three years offering a combination of extreme percussion, engaging humor and athleticism. As the audience enters the theater, they get to pick out an item and take a drumstick so they can bang away during the show and root for the red, green, blue or black team lead by one of the four performers on stage that play instruments as well as buckets, ladders, grinders, sinks, etc. It's all junk rock fun!
ANDREW DICE CLAY UNVEILS MEMORABILIA CASE AT HARD ROCK
Andrew Dice Clay kicked off the first-ever comedian residency in Vinyl at the Hard Rock resort by dedicating a memorabilia case with several of his iconic leather jackets that will be on display through his May 26 show. Among the clothing was a zebra print jacket that the bold entertainer wore during his last and most famous MTV appearance in which he was banned for life. Show tickets start at $54.
NEW WILLIAM HILL RACE & SPORTS BOOK UNVEILED AT PLAZA
William Hill will officially unveil downtown's largest race and sports book at the Plaza on Tuesday, March 19 at 10 a.m. The completely redesigned sports book features 75 TV screens, including 80-inch displays for sports viewing, 25 high- and low-top tables with seating, 37 carrels and 12 display boards located above the wagering counter. There will be free pizza provided at the unveiling by Pop Up Pizza, which has a location adjacent to the book on the Plaza's casino floor, and a mini basketball giveaway. Customers can also sign up for the William Hill Mobile Sports App, which enables wagering from anywhere in the state of Nevada. William Hill operates 75 full-service sports book locations throughout Nevada.
PALMS UNVEILS SWANK REC ROOM WITH A VIEW
The Palms has opened The View, a recreational space with a stylish bar scene and spectacular views. In addition, there are old-school board games, billiards and shuffleboard. The View is located atop the Fantasy Tower between Nove Italiano and Moon Nightclub. The playlist will change nightly and range from classic rock, to 80s, 90s, classic hip-hop, new wave and mash-ups created by musical director Mark Stylz. The View is open Fridays and Saturdays at 9 p.m. Cover is complimentary until 10:30 p.m. and thereafter the charge is $25.
'PIN UP' HAS OPENED AT THE STRATOSPHERE
The Stratosphere Tower's new original show "PIN UP," inspired by classic pin up girl calendars and starring Playboy's 2011 Playmate of the Year and Bettie Page Clothing model Claire Sinclair, has debuted in the Stratosphere Theater. The 10:30 p.m. show features dancers, singers and a live six-piece band with a horn section led by acclaimed trumpeter, conductor and composer Dave Perrico, “PIN UP” is a fast-paced, swingin' production that transports audiences to a modern version of a vintage era where red lips, corsets and garter stockings grace the most beautiful of women.
LIGHT NIGHTCLUB OPENS APRIL 26 WITH EXCLUSIVE DJ PARTNERS
LIGHT, the first nightclub created by the minds behind Cirque du Soleil, will open on April 26 with world-renowned DJs, including global electronic music sensation Skrillex, Swedish House Mafia's Sebastian Ingrosso, man of the moment Zedd and rising star Baauer. The creative entertainment is partnering with audio/visual live production outfit Moment Factory to produce distinctly different live experiences for each performer.
LAS VEGAS GLOBAL BUSINESS DISTRICT UNVEILED
The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority recently unveiled plans for the Las Vegas Global Business District, an overarching vision for the Las Vegas Convention Center and the surrounding area. Envisioned to be completed in phases, the Las Vegas Global Business District will creates an international business destination by incorporating major renovations of the Las Vegas Convention Center, leveraging the World Trade Center designation and developing transportation connectivity through a centralized hub. The first phase, over the next two years, will include programming and design, the development of overall budget, improvements to the current space at the Las Vegas Convention Center and land acquisition.
INAUGURAL COLLABORATION ALE WILL DEBUT AT BEER FESTIVAL
Motley Brews is partnering with the Nevada Craft Brewers Association (NCBA) to create its first-ever collaboration beer —dubbed Pyrite Pale Ale—to serve as the official brew at the Great Vegas Festival of Beer. Local craft brewers will begin the brewing process with a special ceremony on Friday, March 22 and the first keg of Pyrite Pale Ale will be tapped during the festival on Saturday, April 27 at Sunset Park.
FOOD UNIVERSITY AT CAESARS PALACE HOSTS THREE-DAY EVENT

MONSTER JAM CHAMPIONS WILL PARADE ON THE STRIP
The 14th Annual Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam® World Finals presented by NGK Spark Plugs will take place at Sam Boyd Stadium, March 22-23. SOUTH POINT ARENA HOLDS CHAMPIONSHIP BULL RIDING EVENT
The Championship Bull Riding (CBR) South Point Vegas Challenge, presented by Boot Barn, will showcase only the top 24 riders in the world competing in three rounds of an "8-second formation" competition on Saturday, April 13 at the South Point Arena. The tour will include newly crowned 2012 CBR World Champion Josh Barentine, current PRCA World Champion Cody Teel and three-time PRCA World champion J.W. Harris. Tickets begin at $20.
STRATOSPHERE HOLDS FOUR DAYS OF BASKETBALL VIEWING
The Stratosphere will host a four-day, non-stop playoff viewing party, March BBall Tournament HQ, from Thursday, March 21 to Sunday, March 24 inside the recently remodeled Stratosphere Theater.
