SBE ANNOUNCES SLS LAS VEGAS GROUNDBREAKING!
Hospitality company sbe is breaking ground on SLS Las Vegas, formerly the Sahara. The property sbe has owned and operated for seven years is slated to reopen in the fall of 2014.
Once complete, SLS will be a fully-integrated, entertainment-driven resort and casino with more than 1,600 guest rooms and suites. Among the key elements will be a collection of restaurant concepts including The Bazaar by José Andrés, Katsuya by Starck and Umami Burger. Also joining the restaurant collection will be The Griddle Café, which has taken on a cult-like status in
Los Angeles for its acclaimed breakfast, lunch, dessert and cocktail menus.
SLS Las Vegas will feature four nightlife experiences, including a reinvention of sbe's original nightlife concept, Shelter, and The Sayers Club, regarded as
Los Angeles' most exclusive live music venue. The property also will offer a 10,000-square-foot Fred Segal retail experience, featuring seven Fred Segal-branded boutiques, with a wide range of stylish merchandise across various categories. Fred Segal will be the exclusive retailer for SLS Las Vegas.

PENN & TELLER HAVE SIX-YEAR CONTRACT EXTENSION AT RIO
To celebrate 20 magical years of performing in Las Vegas, the eccentric comedy-magic duo Penn & Teller have extended their show at the Rio through 2018, making the twisted duo the longest-running headliners at the same property in Las Vegas history.
NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC'S 50 GREATEST PHOTOS ON DISPLAY
“50 Greatest Photographs of National Geographic,” a comprehensive exploration of National Geographic's most iconic photos, is on display in the Imagine Exhibitions Gallery located by the front door inside The Venetian. The exhibit features a comprehensive exploration of images long associated with the 125-year-old global organization, such as Steve McCurry's mysterious “Afghan Girl.”
The compelling photos are displayed with a behind-the-scenes explanation under each image along with a map marking where the photo was taken and the year. In some cases there is a sequence of “near frame” images made before and after “the perfect shot.” Additionally, there are documentary videos throughout the exhibit that tell the stories behind the photos and photographers.
Tickets are: general admission $18; senior/military/Nevada residents/students $15; and children 12 and under receive free admission when accompanied by a paying adult.
DETAILS WILL BE UNVEILED FOR NEW MICHAEL JACKSON SHOW
This Thursday, The Estate of Michael Jackson and Cirque du Soleil will unveil the name, logo and additional details surrounding the upcoming show created around the King of Pop - Michael Jackson. The show, the second partnership between Cirque du Soleil and the Estate of Michael Jackson, will open and take residency exclusively at the Mandalay Bay this summer.
FOUR SEASONS WILL LAUNCH NEW INDOOR/OUTDOOR BAR
The lobby and pool garden at Four Seasons will come alive in April with the opening of Press, a new indoor/outdoor bar concept that will offer morning, afternoon and night drink and food options. The edgy décor will feature a dramatic modern art centerpiece, oversized windows and a glass door leading to the patio area, two large gas outside fire pits and comfortable sofa seating with a view of the hotel's lushly landscaped private pool. There will be high-speed Wifi connection and multiple outlets bar side. The opening of Press comes on the heels of the hotel's major guest room renovation, completed in December 2012.
BUFFALO BILL'S UNVEILS $2 MILLION RESORT RENOVATIONS
Buffalo Bill's in Primm, Nev., has unveiled recent suite improvements as well as a newly reconfigured casino floor and live poker. A revamped sports book, featuring the latest services from William Hill plus a full-service bar featuring video poker games, is now open to the public. Included in the enhancements are 52 refurbished suites as well as 22 connecting guest rooms. General upkeep to the common areas including painting, cleaning and new carpet has been completed. Over the last two years there have been added dining options such as Denny's and the first-ever Ramon Ayala's Cocina and Cantina.
NOBU AT CAESARS PALACE IS NOW OPEN
The highly-anticipated 181-room boutique hotel with 18 suites, the world's first Nobu Hotel at Caesars Palace, is a collaboration between Caesars Palace, Chef Nobu Matsuhisa and Nobu Hospitality primary shareholders, actor Robert De Niro and Hollywood film producer Meir Teper. This is the first celebrity chef-branded hotel venture in Las Vegas. The 327-seat Nobu Restaurant and Lounge with 12,775 square feet is the world's largest Nobu Restaurant and the first to offer teppanyaki in the United States.
THE SMITH CENTER ANNOUNCES NEXT 10 BROADWAY SHOWS
The recently unveiled upcoming 2013-2014 Broadway Las Vegas season at The Smith Center is comprised of 10 of Broadway's most beloved productions. Present at the announcement was Joey from “War Horse,” the 10-foot long and eight-foot tall horse puppet.

PALAZZO BRINGS 'LANTERN FESTIVAL' TO LAS VEGAS
The Venetian and The Palazzo will hold the first Las Vegas Lantern Festival celebrating the end of Chinese New Year on Saturday, Feb. 23 from 7 to 9 p.m. The event, sometimes called “Chinese Moon Festival,” will feature traditional dim sum, Chinese-inspired cocktails, and entertainment. The Beijing Trio, known for their traditional Chinese music from ancient and folkloric to contemporary, will be the featured entertainment. Tickets are $48.88.
ADELE JOINS FRANK MARINO'S 'DIVAS LAS VEGAS' AT THE QUAD
This weekend, Grammy-Award winning and multi-platinum recording artist Adele joined the cast of Frank Marino's “Divas Las Vegas” at The Quad. Sammy Gonzales, who also impersonates Liza Minnelli and Mariah Carey, performs a disco mash-up of Adele's top hits including “Rolling in the Deep” and “Rumor Has It.” “Divas Las Vegas” is full of female celebrity look-alikes impersonating beloved superstars from Cher and Bette Midler to Celine Dion and Janet Jackson.
SPORTSMEN'S EXPO ATTRACTS RENOWNED OUTDOOR CELEBS
The second Las Vegas International Sportsmen's Expo (ISE), which is Nevada's largest outdoor adventure travel, fishing and hunting consumer show, will be held Feb. 28 through March 3 at the Las Vegas Convention Center and feature more than 600 booths and 350 companies. The four-day show opens daily at 10 a.m. Tickets are $12 for adults.
This year, a number of outdoor celebrities will also be joining the event on the Adventure Theater stage. The impressive list of Seminar Presenters will include Randy Newberg, award-winning host of the popular television hunting show “On You Own Adventures,” and Tiffany Haugen, author of many wild-game cookbooks, including her newest, “Tips for Cooking Game and Fish.”
Other notables include: Scott Leysath, renowned outdoor chef and host of the hit TV show “Dead Meat;” Corey Jacobsen, seven-time winner of the World Elk Calling Championships; Chef John McGannon, columnist for “Bugle Magazine” and owner of Wild Eats; and Kent Brown, Ultimate Bass Radio host and Bass Pro Angler.

RICK MICHEL STARS IN 'SINATRA FOREVER' AT M PAVILION
Rick Michel, who has performed and headlined in Las Vegas since 1981, will present his “Sinatra Forever” with a 24-piece orchestra on Saturday, Feb. 23 in the M Pavilion at the M Resort. Michel, who has been called “the closest thing to Sinatra we have ever heard” by “Variety,” will salute and interpret “Ol' Blue Eyes” standards. In addition, more than half the musicians in the orchestra played with Sinatra.
Rick Michel, a master impressionist for more than 40 years, has been touring his “Sinatra Forever” show around the country as well as internationally with performances in Canada, Mexico and Chile. Tickets are $19.50 and $29.50.
'LEGENDS IN CONCERT' OPENS IN NEW HOME AT FLAMINGO
“Legends in Concert,” a show that began in 1983 with a limited six-week engagement, will debut in its new home in the Flamingo Showroom on Feb. 28 with an all-star lineup including tributes to entertainment icons Britney Spears, Elvis Presley, Lady Gaga, Michael Jackson and Rod Stewart.
Celebrating 30 years of continuous success, “Legends in Concert” has a long-term multi-year residency at the Flamingo. Performances are every Sunday through Friday at 4 p.m. along with additional shows at 9:30 p.m. every Sunday and Monday and on other select weekdays and performance times throughout the year.
ANDREW DICE CLAY STARTS RESIDENCY AT VINYL AT HARD ROCK
America's rock 'n' roll comedy legend Andrew Dice Clay will start his 20-show headlining gig for March-May at Vinyl on Thursday, March 14. Additional performances will be announced later.
Clay's career has been going through resurgence. He had a critically-acclaimed recurring role on the final season of HBO's “Entourage” and on Dec.31, 2012, he won rave reviews for his Showtime special “Indestructible,” his first in 17 years. This summer, Clay will be co-starring alongside Cate Blanchett and Alec Baldwin in Woody Allen's forth-coming feature “Blue Jasmine.” And to this day, Clay remains the only performer banned for life from MTV. Tickets start at $54.
STRATOSPHERE'S SKYJUMP APPROACHES 100,000TH JUMP
Sometime this month, SkyJump Las Vegas at the Stratosphere will host its 100,000th jump, which is a controlled 855-foot descent from the 108th floor to the ground at 45 miles per hour. SkyJump opened in April 2010.
The 100,000th jumper will receive a prize package including one free SkyJump, a two-night stay in a recently remodeled Stratosphere Select room, dinner for two at the Stratosphere's new McCall's Heartland Grill, two tickets to Frankie Moreno's show and official SkyJump merchandise.
NINE FINE IRISHMEN HOLDS 4TH ST. BALDRICK'S EXTRAVAGANZA
The 4th Annual St. Baldrick's Day head shaving event will be held on Saturday, March 2 from 1 11 p.m. on the New York-New York Brooklyn Bridge with live music, drinks and more. Participants can shed their locks in support of the St. Baldrick's Foundation, a national organization funding research for childhood cancer.
The event is free and open to the public with live performances by Spazmatics, Phoenix and Ri-Ra and photo opportunities at the head-shaving booths to commemorate the day. In exchange for their tresses, shavees can take advantage of a special “shavecation” package at New York-New York featuring hotel accommodations, 2-for-1 admission to The Roller Coaster, 2-for-1 breakfast at Il Fornaio and half off daybeds at the pool. MOE. WILL PERFORM AT HARD ROCK CAFÉ
Veteran jam band, moe., will appear at the Hard Rock Cafe on the Strip on Thursday, March 7 with special guests Orgone. Hailing from New York, the band was formed at the University of Buffalo in 1989. Their first record was “Fatboy” established the band in the 1990s. Tickets are $30 in advance and $35 day of show.
The Louis C.K. performance originally scheduled for Friday, March 8 at MGM Grand has been postponed due to scheduling conflicts related to the comedian's current movie project.
