I came to Las Vegas in 1959 after covering my first Academy Awards,
returned from '72 through '85 and again in '97. I attended the 6th Annual Old Timers dinner, October 7, for the first time and
saw many folks that I have not seen in some time, plus other survivors. Boulder
City resident Bill Hess sat at our table (I am an avid reader
of his column). Governor Kenny Guinn stopped by to say "hello";
that is his trademark, saying "hello" to everyone and shaking their hand. My
favorite retired maitre'd Rudy Bath said "hello" as did
Joe Delaney and Ross Mitchell (former
Vic Damone aid). Sasha Seminoff and his famous
violin serenaded us all with Sonny King having 'em eating out
of his hands. The wrap up from Lt. Governor Lorraine Hunt and
her Blackie simply stopped the show. You can reach Blackie at
their Bootlegger Eatery which has moved to 7700 Las Vegas Blvd. So.
