Caught Wayne Newton July 31 and the "tireless one" seems to feed on more work, including charity and military obligations. He also feeds off of his audience as his two-hour show ran the gambit from pranks to huggin' & kissin' to pure talent...

Charo really has her stuff together at the Sahara. Her August 2 show was a sell out... The Orleans' Dolly and Bobby Vinton are still aglow after being invited by Pope John Paul to visit with him several weeks ago at his summer residence in Rome... "Rock This Town - Live" opens at the Riviera September 2...

The lights...the sirens...the locked briefcase carrying the all-important harmonica...the black hats...the dark sunglasses...and the sweetest blues sounds this side of the Mississippi...the boys are back in town! "Legends in Concert" is the hot ticket... only at the Imperial Palace, center-"Strip"...

Suncoast Sunday buffet should be on your must-do list... Kenny Kerr will slide into his "Boylesque" role when he opens later this month at Aladdin's Blue Note...

Too long absent from the "Strip," singer / actor Jack Jones returned triumphantly to the Suncoast July 26-28. His clear, strong voice rang out his hits, including "Lollipops," "Wine and Roses" and a tribute from his Tony Bennett LP, "Man From La Moncha." A standing ovation (one of several) came from a packed house, which included Steve Wynn, as Jones joined his late dad, Alan Jones (on the screen), in "Donkey Serenade." He even climbed into the audience three times and shook many, many hands. His one-hour, thirty-minute show breezed by...

"Battista's Hole In The Wall" owner recuperating after open heart surgery... Brenda Prince now carries the mantle of PR and marketing at the Sahara... Wishing Joe Delany a speedy recovery... Sorry to hear that master magician Lance Burton's dad passed away recently. Our sincere condolences.
