Opening night as Burt Reynolds entered the Orleans stage, he was greeted by a thunderous applause and a standing ovation from the guests who has paid $39.95 per. His nightly show ran around 1 hour, 20 minutes of personal, inside- and show-business stories with slides that kept the audience in stitches. The high-energy star gazers spotted in the crowd during his run included Sir Anthony Hopkins, Rich Little, Don Cherry, Marty Allen, Robin Leach, Rip Taylor, Steve Rossi, Cork Procter and Joe Villa to name just a few. Reynolds wound up with three or four nightly standing ovations during the course of the show. More than 300 guests received personal autographs and took photos with him in the dressing room afterwards. Look for a return visit in November...

She's on "top of the world" now. Brigitte Valdez continues to amaze "Legends In Concert" audiences at the Imperial Palace with her titanic tribute to the one and only Celine Dion. Having begun her career at the tender age of 13, Valdez has "paid her dues" through gigs including radio and TV appearances; back-up vocals for The Pharcyde, Benny Mardones, and Johnny Angel; and her own pop album, "Brigitte," recorded and released in Asia in 1996. Catch her on the Imperial Theatre stage along with other spectacular live tributes to such superstars as Tina Turner, Bruce Springsteen, The Blues Brothers, The Temptations and Elvis Presley in "Legends In Concert," 7:30 and 10:30 p.m. nightly, except Sundays, at the Imperial Palace, center-"Strip." 65-year-old comic George Carlin, with 12 HBO specials and several books to his credit, is a box office bonanza at the MGM. He will be followed by Paul Anka July 29... Tony Orlando wrapped up a very successful weekend gig at the Orleans... At the Silverton July 27 are the Bellamy Brothers followed by Jan and Dean August 31... The Apollo Brothers, from Charo's Sahara show, are recognized by Ripley's Believe It or Not as the world's fastest jugglers...

Master magician Lance Burton's October 26 show benefits the City of Hope and The Swartz Hebrew Academy... Cher slips into the MGM August 9 & 10... Ray Romano is set for the Mirage August 16-18... Penn and Teller at the Rio through August 31 with ventro-comic Ronn Lucas showing daily at 3 p.m... 2002 Star Trek fans gather at the Hilton with The Righteous Brothers there through the month of August... Stan Musial seen dining at the Palms.
