Chicago - The Band
The innovative eight-man band named Chicago has thrilled audiences for decades with their successfully fused jazz, rock and blues music.

Demonstrating an amazing consistency in the constantly evolving pop music field, Chicago has recordeding 26 consecutive hit albums. They have surpassed the 120 million mark in total record sales.

Chicago's intricate orchestrations and flawless musicianship form the basis of the group's staying power.

Orignally a foursome, the band consisted of Lee Loughnane, James Pankow, Walt Parazaider and Robert Lamm who began playing in 1967. They were the first to intregrate concept of a rock band with a dominant horn section.

Chicago formed a distinctive which features brass harmonies of Loughnane's trumpet, Pankow's trombone and Parazaider's saxophone. Lamm's keyboard work provides the vital musical underpinning. These founding members had formal college educations and were knowledgable in a wide variety of musical genres, including classical, Latin, swing, rock, folk and rhythm and blues. Their musical upbring was influenced by the artists who frequently played their home town of Chicago. First calling themselves the Chicago Transit Authority, they shortened the name to Chicago due in part to how their distinctive sound embodied many of the styles of music for which the city is famous.

In 1981, guitarist Bill Champlin joined the group. Champlin had been performing rock since the 1960s. The band continued to grow by adding bassist Jason Scheff in 1984, Tris Imboden a drummer in 1990 and another guitarist, Keith Howland in 1995.

1969 saw the group's first recording, an ambitious double album with original songs and a rich horn-flavored sound. It was an immediate hit and remained on sales charts for over two years. Hit songs of Chicago which you'll always remember include "Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?" "25 Or 6 To 4," "Saturday In The Park," "Just You N Me," "Make Me Smile," "If You Leave Me Now" and "Hard To Say I'm Sorry."
