Debbie Reynolds will headline at the Riverside in Don's Celebrity Theatre from Dec. 28-Jan. 1. Tickets range from $32 up to $45 for the late show on Dec. 31, call 1-800-227-3849. While at the Riverside, Reynolds will be performing a show recounting all her past successes and reliving all her memories.

A press conference on Dec. 28 at 2:30 p.m. in front of Don's Celebrity Theatre will be open to the public.

Reynolds was born Mary Frances Reynolds in El Paso, Texas. At age eight, her family moved to Burbank, California. Eight years later, Reynolds won the "Miss Burbank" beauty contest. Warner Brothers signed her to a contract and Jack Warner gave her the name "Debbie."

Warner Bros. gave Reynolds two small movie parts and then decided not to resign their contract. MGM; however, gave Reynolds her first big chance to prove herself in "Three Little Words" as Helen Kane, offered her a long-term contract and groomed the young girl for stardom. Next, Reynolds played Jane Powell's little sister in "Two Weeks With Love" and sang "Aba Daba Honeymoon," which became a gold record.

Reynolds' first major part was in "Singin' In The Rain" with Gene Kelly and Donald O'Connor. "The Unsinkable Molly Brown" earned Reynolds an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress. Reynolds starred in more musicals, had more hit singles, and won more awards.

The Pioneer is now offering a new round of mid-week "High Noon Specials" for December in their Boarding House Restaurant. Each meal special is available from noon until 4 p.m. for $3.50 each with a Round-Up Club card and $5.95 without a card.

On Tuesdays the offer is home-style meat loaf, Wednesdays is liver and onions, and Thursdays is grilled kielbasa.

Over the past six years, the Edgewater Race & Sports Book has tapped into the high interest in the college bowl games by offering their Holiday Bowl Game Contest. Sign-ups began this year on Dec. 15 and will continue until 10:59 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 27. There is no cost to enter the contest but you must be 21 years of age. Cash prizes range from $500 for first place down to $25 for fifth place.

Play is based on point values that will be assigned by the Edgewater Book to each team in each game. Participants pick the winners of the 22 games in the contest without using point spreads. For correct picks, participants win the assigned point value with favorites earning fewer points than long shots.

Players can earn valuable Bonus Points by correctly choosing the winning team in a fictitious game called the "Edgewater Bowl." In this game, two teams that will be paying in bowl games but not against each other will be the selected teams.
