Vicki Lawrence will headline Don's Celebrity Theatre at the Riverside, Dec. 27-31. Tickets are $34.00 and for New Years Eve $35.00 for the 7 p.m. and $40.00 for the 10:30 p.m. shows, call 800-227-3849.

Voted "Most Likely To Succeed" by her high school graduating class, Lawrence has proved that the title fits. As a senior in high school, Lawrence sent a letter to Carol Burnett including a newspaper clipping mentioning a resemblance between the two. After meeting Vicki at a local "Miss Fireball Contest," Burnett contacted Vicki to play the role of her kid sister on a new television series.

The new series, The Carol Burnett Show, aired in 1967, and the two ladies spent 11 years making America laugh. During this time, Lawrence received a Gold Record for her international hit single, "The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia." She took the character Mama, and went on to star in her own TV series, "Mama's Family."

The first big Laughlin area event will be Cloud's Jamboree from Jan. 9-25. The rock, gems, jewelry, mineral show will have vendors exhibiting at various casinos. For information, contact 1-866-558-7719.

Casinos will be celebrating Winter Break from Jan. 13-16 with a variety of activities, entertainment and seminars for the 50-plus age group. A $39 fee will be apply for all events. For further details, call 480-926-5547.

The Laughlin Desert Challenge annual races on the SCORE International Off Road Racing tour is scheduled at the Laughlin Events Park, Jan. 15-18. The event will feature 16 classes of desert race cars and trucks competing on a course in the surrounding desert. There will be stadium style viewing with a start/finish loop at Events Park. Other events will include the Pit Crew Competition and the "Laughlin Leap" where competitors drive cars off ramp for distance.

The 4th Annual Colorado River Bluegrass Festival highlights top rated bluegrass bands from across the nation performing from Feb. 6-8 at Davis Camp north of the Laughlin Bridge. Some camping will be available and there will be free shuttle boats to and from casinos. For ticket information, call 928-768-5819.

At the Flamingo, headliners perform in the Flamingo Ballroom. The near future line up includes: The Temptations, Dec. 27; the comedy of David Brenner, Jan. 3; Louise Mandrell, Feb. 21; Charo, March 1; and Tanya Tucker, March 27. Ticket prices range from $16.95 to $30, call 1-800-435-8469.

On New Year's Eve, Harrah's will kick off the New Year on the casino floor with confetti cannons at midnight, party hats, horns, noisemakers and serpentines to help kick off the celebration.

The award-winning Range Steakhouse and the 24-hour Cabo Café are offering special menus.

The special Range Steakhouse menu is $42.50 a person and the regular menu will not be available. The Range will be open from 5 to 11 p.m. and reservations are required. For more information or reservations at the Range Steakhouse, please call (702) 298-4600.

The Cabo Café will offer two selections of entrees for holiday diners for $19.50 a person. Savory entrees include choice of dry aged 14 oz. slow roasted prime rib and 4 oz. lobster tail or beef tenderloin medallions and shrimp scampi served in a garlic white wine and butter sauce. Both entrée choices are served with a choice of fresh garden Café dinner salad or signature cup of soup accompanied with fresh rolls and butter as well as garden vegetables and a choice of baked potato, French fries or wild rice.

The Colorado Belle offers special room packages in conjunction with property-wide and citywide events. Jan. 16-17, 2004, the Colorado Belle has packages for the 10th Annual SCORE Off Road Races being staged from the Laughlin Special Events Area. Packages start from $99 and includes accommodations for two nights, with$10 in certificates valid at any of the Belle's six dine-in restaurants or main gift shop, two tickets to the races on Saturday and a free night's stay on a future visit (excluding holidays and special event periods). It is stocking stuffer time again and the Watch Man Store at the Riverside offers solutions with watches for everyone. The store celebrates its tenth anniversary this year and continues its policy of offering each of its more than 20,000 watches and clocks for under $20.

The Watch Man Store is known throughout the land for randomly selling a genuine $3,000 Rolex watch for under $20. He actually puts a real Rolex among his many watches and sees if someone picks up on it; if they do, it's theirs for under $20.
