The best-selling female performer of all time, Mariah Carey will bring her Grammy Award-winning, five-octave voice to the Aladdin Theatre on Dec. 20. Tickets range from $71.70 to $192.70, call 702-785-5000.

Carey has garnered an incredible 15 No. 1 singles and along the way, she became the only artist to top the charts in each year of the 1990s. With "Heartbreak," she pushed ahead of the Beatles as the artist with the most cumulative weeks spent atop Billboard's Hot 100 Singles chart.

In May 2002, Carey signed an exclusive recording contract with the Universal Music Group's Island Records. She was born in Long Island, N.Y., as the daughter of a former opera singer and vocal coach and named after the song "They Call the Wind Mariah."

In response to overwhelming public demand for his Feb. 13-22 debut at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace, Elton John has announced that his next set of performances will be March 23-April 4. Tickets range from $100 to $250 plus taxes and handling charges, call 1-888-4-ELTONJ (435-8665).

John has partnered with Caesars Palace to perform 75 shows over three years in the 4,100-seat Colosseum. He will be performing his show titled "The Red Piano" with his band.

Madame Tussauds famous wax museum at the Venetian is giving its image an updated twist by adding interactive celebrity exhibits to its static creations. The new direction highlights a diverse mix of celebrities. Guests can now be a part of a scene where Tiger Woods is lining up a shot on an artificial turf putting green and try to sink a putt with the master.

Britney Spears is gripping a pole and dipping backwards dangling her mane. She's actually frozen in a dance step.

Quite compelling is Lakers center Shaquille O'Neal blocking shot attempts made by guests in an exhibit called "One-on-One with Shaq. Stadium charge music plays with each score.

Scheduled to arrive in the coming months are Jennifer Lopez who will blush when you blow in her ear, and Elvis Presley, who will speak with visitors touching his extended hand.

Madame Tussauds opens at 10 a.m. daily and closes at 8 p.m. Saturday through Thursday and 10 p.m. on weekends. Admission is $19.95, $14 for seniors and students, $9.95 for children ages six to 12, and free for children five and younger. For information, call 702-862-7800.

Country music artist and former rodeo champion, Chris LeDoux, will bring his country hits to the stage of the Silverton Showroom from Dec. 11 - 13, at 10:30 p.m. during the National Finals Rodeo. Tickets are $44.95, call 1-866-946-4373 or 702-263-7777.

LeDoux, who is a real-life rancher and a rodeo champion, is touring in support of his 36th album. Since battling a lengthy battle with a rare liver disease and undergoing liver transplant surgery, LeDoux is ready to prove to fans that he can still deliver his special blend of "western soul, sagebrush blues, cowboy folk and rodeo rock 'n' roll." He's back and better than ever with his newest release, "Horsepower."

Steve Azar will be a featured performer at the 2003 Sam's Town National Finals Rodeo after-party on Dec. 12 at 9 p.m. On stage at Sam's Town Live!, radio station KWNR will keep the good times rollin' at the after-party with a DJ spinning hits between sets. Tickets are $10, call 1-800-897-8696.

Azar shot to country star status in 2002 with the release of his critically acclaimed studio album, "Waitin' On Joe," which spawned his popular first single, "I Don't Have to Be Me ('Til Monday)."

"Santa & Me, A Holy Night Before Christmas," is a musical tribute to the true meaning of Christmas written and produced by superstar Tony Orlando. It will play at The Orleans Showroom located at Tropicana and Arville at 8 p.m., Dec. 12-21. Tickets are $34.95, $39.95 and $44.95 plus tax, call 702-365-7075.

Tony Sacca's 18th annual fundraising "Merry Christmas Las Vegas" television special will be taped on Dec. 7, at 2 p.m. in the main showroom at the Stratosphere. This year's line-up of headliners donating their time and talents are master magician Lance Burton, ventriloquist Ronn Lucas, pianists Mark & Clark, lounge veteran Cook E. Jarr, Frank & Dean, singing impressionist Bill Acosta, Michaelina, Laurence T. and Helen Joy's Young Entertainers, plus more. Tickets are $25, call 702-889-3587 for information.

The show will be broadcast eight times locally, six times nationally and two times in California.

Sheplers Big Tent Sale will return tomorrow to Sam's Town on Boulder Highway for the National Finals Rodeo and remain open until Dec. 31.

The Big Tent Sale, featuring over 20,000 square feet of selling space, offers shoppers a vast assortment of such western apparel as boots, jeans, shirts and hats for the entire family. In addition, shoppers can pick up various home d‚cor items and accessories. Founded over 55 years ago in Wichita, Kansas, as a saddle and harness shop, Sheplers has grown to 19 stores throughout the United States.

The Westin Casuarina's $90 million remodeling project has completely upgraded the 24-year old former Maxim property. After more than four months of construction delays, the Westin finally opened its doors earlier this month with less than 300 guest rooms available out of 825 in the 17-story property. The resort's small casino has 400 slot machines and 10 table games open and it's still up in the air as to when the spa will debut.

Comedian David Brenner has signed a one-year contract to perform in the Westin's 200-seat showroom. He's currently performing seven nights a week at 8 p.m. Tickets are $57 tax inclusive and ages six and over welcome.

The $1 million diesel-powered, 80-foot La Contessa yacht is the latest attraction at the two-mile long, three-quarters of a mile wide, manmade Lake Las Vegas. The boat holds 149 passengers.

The lower deck features a main salon flanked by large windows, a bar area and full galley. The upper deck includes a private admiral's cabin with its own bar and deck. The cost to rent is $1,300 per hour with a two-hour minimum. The third hour is $650 and food and drinks are not included.

The other boat for rent is the 60-footer Lady of the Lake that rents for $465 per hour with a two hour minimum.

The third annual Gift of Lights is offering a public holiday celebration with over 120 colorful and animated outdoor light displays nightly through Sunday, Jan. 4, at Sunset Park on the corner of Eastern and Sunset. General Admission, Monday - Thursday, is $10.00 per vehicle and $12, Friday - Sunday. There's a special admission discount of $ 2.00 with any bag of "gently used items" donation to Goodwill of Southern Nevada at the event.

Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville at the Flamingo is scheduled to open on Dec. 11. The multi-level restaurant will serve Caribbean/American style cuisines, host nightly live music and entertainment and house the largest Margaritaville retail store. The restaurant will be open from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. and feature live music from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. everyday. Retail store hours will be from 10 a.m. to 2 a.m. Entr‚e prices will range from $13.95 to $18.95, with signature dishes such as Jerk Flavored Chicken, Salmon or Shrimp and the infamous "Cheeseburger in Paradise."

The Rio plans to break ground early next year on a $31 million expansion of its Pavilion Convention Center. The expansion will add 60,000 square feet of space to the existing 100,000 square feet and completion is expected by the end of 2004.

David Bowie and Macy Gray have added a second show at the Hard Rock. In addition to playing an already sold-out show on Jan. 30, they will return on Feb. 6. Prices range from $104 to $304, call Ticketmaster.

Chinese female pop sensation A-Mei Chang will perform at Paris on Dec.27

Having released only three albums since breaking onto the music scene in 1996, A-Mei has already won several top accolades from the Chinese Song Awards and the Golden Song Awards. She has also been named Asia's Most Popular Female Singer by Billboard and has received a Best Singer Award from MTV. Tickets are $38, $78, $128 and $168, call 1-877-374-7469.

Master magician and illusionist David Copperfield will perform five additional shows during his upcoming engagement, Dec. 23 - Jan. 1, at the MGM Grand1s in the intimate 740-seat Hollywood Theatre. His schedule now includes 34 performances in a 10-day span. Tickets are $97 inclusive and the matinee shows at 2 and 4:30 p.m. are $79.90 inclusive except on New Year's Eve, call 800- 929-1111 or 702-891-7777.

Jake Latulip, a retired Marine and Las Vegas resident, recently won $19.6 million at the Stardust, which was the sixth largest Megabucks win in history. At 69, he is the 59th Megajackpot winner and the second person to hit at the Stardust, with the first win in 1990 for $5.8 million. The total resets at $7 million after a jackpot.

The Silverton Hotel & Casino now has 324 KOA-approved RV spaces in the RV Park adjacent to the hotel.

The Mirage buffet will be closing on Dec. 1 for extensive renovations and a redesign that will transform it into "a culinary journey" designed by renowned restaurant designer Adam Tihany, whose projects include Spago in Las Vegas. The buffet is scheduled to reopen in June 2004.

The new Icehouse lounge downtown offers Happy Hours from 4 to 7 p.m. and 1-4 a.m. and features $1 drink specials.

The Cannery Casino & Hotel in association with KJUL 104.3 FM will host free Holiday Big Band Dances in November and December.

The Gene White Orchestra featuring the "Swing Patrol" will perform Nov. 28 and 29 and The Steve Beyer Orchestra will take the stage on Dec. 27-28, from 8 p.m. to midnight inside The Club at the Cannery in North Las Vegas at the corner of Craig and Losee Roads.

Davis Gaines, who performed the title role in Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera more than 2,000 times for more than five million theatergoers, will play the leading role in the holiday classic "Scrooge" at the Starbright Theatre in Summerlin from Dec. 9-28. Tickets are $27.50 Tuesdays through Saturdays; call 702-240-1333.

Gaines is also an accomplished solo performer, having sung for five U.S. Presidents and with every major symphony orchestra in North America. "Scrooge" will mark the first production of the Starbright Theatre Company, a local, non-profit performing arts organization.
