Mel Tillis will be headlining, Nov. 16 - 21, at the Riverside Resort and hold a press conference that is open to the pubic on Nov. 16 at 3 p.m. in front of Don's Celebrity Theatre that will air live on KRCY 103.9 FM. Show tickets are $32, call 1-800-227-3849.

In the early 1950's, while serving in Okinawa, Japan with the United States Air Force, Tillis began performing with a group called The Westerners. In 1956, Webb Pierce released a recording of Mel Tillis' song "I'm Tired" and launched his musical career.

Tillis has recorded over 60 albums, and has had 36 Top Ten singles. In 1993, he released hit first gospel album, "Beyond The Sunset," and his most recent album, "Old Dogs" received a nomination for the 1999 Vocal Event of the Year by the Country Music Association.

As a songwriter, he has written over 1,000 songs and had approximately 600 recorded by other artists. BMI awarded Tillis a Special Citation of Achievement in June 2001 for three million broadcast performances by Kenny Rogers of "Ruby, Don't Take Your Love To Town."

Tillis has appeared in many feature films, including "Every Which Way But Loose" and "Smokey and the Bandit II." As a painter, he has helped raise money for the Scottish Rite Foundation, which benefits speech and hearing clinics across the country. One thousand autographed prints of his painting Masonic America are being sold and all of the profits go to the foundation,

Comedian Bill Engvall and the classic band, The Lettermen, will perform in the Flamingo Laughlin Ballroom this month.

Bill Engvall will bring his "blue-collar" style of humor to the Flamingo on Nov. 20 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $19.95 and $24.95 plus tax.

Engvall comes from humble beginnings in Galveston, Texas, but Dallas was where he honed his skills. He's performed on the "Tonight Show" with Johnny Carson, been the recipient of the American Comedy Awards Comic of the Year, toured with Jeff Foxworthy and been an original comic in the "Blue Collar Comedy Tour." Engvall has a number one selling comedy album entitled, "Here's Your Sign."

The classic Doo-Wop band, The Lettermen, will headline at 7 p.m. in the Ballroom, Nov. 26-28. Tickets are $19.95 and $24.95 plus tax.

A staple in the American musical landscape, The Lettermen first appeared in February of 1958 at the Desert Inn in Las Vegas and then toured the world. They made 32 straight top-40 records and over 25 charted hit singles, sung and recorded in over 14 languages, and received 18 gold albums internationally. The Lettermen have made more than 200 television appearances.

At the Ramada Express, one winner is selected every week to win the "Gift Certificate Giveaway." The prizes are $50 in gift certificates that can be cashed at the main cage, used for food, gift shop items or other purchases within the casino and a three-day / two-night stay at the Ramada Express. On Nov. 26 and 27, The Avi will hold "Chili, Bikes and Blues," a combination event at the events area with a chili cook-off, motorcycle ride in (with poker run, bike games, etc.) and live blues bands featuring John Earl and the Boogie Man Band and Moody Scott and the First Class Blues Band. There will also be vendors and food booths both days. Most events will be free except there is a $5 advance poker run buy-in that will be $10 the day of the event.

The River Palms offers the "Wheel of Cash" with cash prizes from $10 to $1,000. The format is every hour from noon to 7 p.m., Monday through Thursday, a player within the casino is randomly selected to have the "Wheel of Cash" brought to their machine so they can spin it to claim a cash prize from $10 to $1,000. A total of $8,000 is given away each day. To be eligible, players must be playing a casino machine with their Players' Club card inserted in the tracking box. The Regency Hot Slots promotion is running through Nov. 30 at the Regency. The prizes total $7,500 with a top prize of $2,500. Weekly drawings for $250 each are held at 7 p.m. with Nov 17 and 24 remaining. A quarterly drawing for $2,500 will take place Tuesday, Nov. 30, at 7 p.m. All weekly entry tickets are returned to the drum making them eligible for all remaining drawings. Winners must be present to claim prizes. You can enter by earning one drawing entry on hand-paid jackpots of more than $50 with maximum coin bet.
