Grammy Award-winning LeAnn Rimes will headline at the Aladdin Theatre on Dec. 13 during the National Finals Rodeo (NFR) week with special guests Trick Pony and Aaron Lines. Tickets range from $50.40 to $81.90, call 702-785-5000.

At a mere 21 years of age, Rimes is already a superstar with a lifetime of accomplishments including winning two Grammies and one was for "Best New Artist," which marked the first time a Country artist ever captured that honor. At age 13, she earned two Grammy Awards for "Blue," her debut album in 1996 that sold eight million copies. Rimes new Curb Records release is "Twisted Angel."

Trick Pony is Country music's best selling new group of 2001. Canadian award winning artist Aaron Lines released his debut album, "Living Out Loud," in 2001 and it debuted at No. 9 on the Billboard Country charts.

A new exhibition featuring 21 works done by the French Impressionist painter, Claude Monet, will be on display at the 2,600-square-foot Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art from Jan. 30 to Sept. 13, 2004. This will be the gallery's fifth exhibit since 2002.

The paintings will be on loan from the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, which has the biggest Monet collection outside of France. The show will include "The Water Lily Pond," "Water Lilies" and "Grainstack." All works were done from 1864 to 1905.

Born in Paris, Monet is known for his depiction of landscapes and seacoast views. He was particularly adept at using natural light.

The record-breaking annual touring spectacular, Trans-Siberian Orchestra (TSO) will return to Las Vegas on Saturday, Dec. 6 when it brings holiday cheer and its most elaborate production to date to the Aladdin Theatre. TSO is celebrating the fifth anniversary of its "Christmas Eve & Other Stories" tour this winter.

The group was founded in 1996 and made its inaugural seven-show tour in 1999. Since then, TSO's holiday tour has grown exponentially from year to year. Taking a cue for Broadway, the group split into two touring groups in 2000. Tickets are $29.50 and $39.50; call Ticketmaster at 702-474-4000.

The Steakhouse at TI offers Monday Night Football dinners in a private screening room starting at 5:30 p.m. The complete three-course dinner offers main entree choices of 8 oz. filet mignon, 24 oz. Bone-in rib eye steak, garlic roast chicken or pan-roasted salmon. The cost is $42 per person and beverages, tax and tip are additional. For reserved seats, call 702-894-7223.

Actress / comedian and comedy club alumni Caroline Rhea will headline the "Catch A Rising Star" comedy club on Nov. 14 and 15 with $100,000 Star Search Winner, comedian Mike Saccone opening the show. Tickets for her 10 p.m. shows in the 435-seat showroom located in the Excalibur's Medieval Village are $30 plus tax, call 702-597-7600.

Her stand-up training came from a year of nightly gigs at the New York Catch A Rising Star club. Her career now includes credits like six seasons as the feisty Aunt Hilda on "Sabrina, the Teenage Witch" and a supporting role with Jim Carrey in the feature film "Man on the Moon," the story of the late comedian Andy Kaufman.

The 2003 Wrangler National Finals Rodeo will once again be held at the Thomas and Mack Center from Dec. 5-14. This year marks the 45th anniversary of the event and the 19th year in Las Vegas.

An annual highlight is the Cowboy Christmas Gift Show that is held in conjunction with NFR. It will be held at the Las Vegas Convention Center in the North Hall from Dec. 4-13, and feature 400 vendors in a 200,000-square-foot exhibit area.

Station Casinos has announced plans to spend $110 million on a hotel expansion at its top locals' property, Green Valley Ranch. The investment will produce 296 new rooms, 25,000 square feet of extra meeting space and an expanded spa. Right now, the hotel has the minimum required 201 rooms. Construction is set to begin before the end of December and should be completed in about one year.

In addition, the company is working out controversies so it can build its Red Rock Station project in Summerlin. Plans call for the project to begin in the middle of 2004 and be completed in 2005. It's predicted that the first development phase for this project will cost upward of $400 million.

Amazing Johnathan is moving back to the Golden Nugget downtown on Jan. 13, after he completes his one-year deal at the Flamingo on Dec. 14.

For the third year in a row, plans call for fireworks to light up the Strip at the stroke of midnight on Dec. 31. Fireworks will explode from ten Strip sites: the Excalibur, MGM Grand, Monte Carlo, Ballys, Flamingo Hilton, Venetian, TI, Stardust, Circus Circus, and Stratosphere. The Rio will once again be the command center.

It turned out to be a short run for Little Anthony and he Imperials at the Riviera. They are closing tonight. Also, Ray Brown Jr. is no longer working in the Le Bistro Lounge. On the other hand, Dr. Scott Lewis, the "Outrageous Comedy Hypnotist," who works the room on Monday nights at 10 p.m. will perform his "Mindblowers" show tonight and next Sunday, Nov. 16.

The holidays are upon us and the Riviera has released dark dates for its shows. The Riviera Comedy Club will be dark from Nov. 17-23. "Splash" will be closed on Thanksgiving Day and from Dec. 11-24. "An Evening at La Cage" and "MEN" will be off from Dec. 16-26. "Crazy Girls" will take off on Dec. 18 and return on Jan. 3. All the shows in the Le Bistro Theatre will be dark Dec. 22-24.

The Stratosphere's new X Scream thrill ride is open at the top of the tower. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for kids 12 and under. Sometimes the ride doesn't operate due to weather conditions, call 702-380-7777 for confirmation.

Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville at the Flamingo held a job fair this week in preparation for its opening.

Magician Roy Horn has been transferred to a UCLA medical facility in Los Angeles offering specialty care for stroke victims. His condition has been upgraded from critical to serious.

Caesars Palace has broken ground on its new 949-room, 26-story luxury hotel tower. When compelled in 2005, the new 345-foot-all building will bring the total number of rooms at the resort to more than 3,370.

Several retail projects are nearing completion at the Venetian. St. John Sport featuring women's clothing opened its first Nevada location inside the Grand Canal Shoppes. The Venezia Tower Gift Shop is scheduled to open on Nov. 15.

Aztar Corp. management now says the company that owns the Tropicana won't decide until early 2005 whether to build a new $700 million, 2,500-room hotel on its 34-acre corner Strip site. Earlier this year, they expected to make a decision at the end of the first quarter in 2004.

The Imperial Palace's "Be A Legend" - Amateur Celebrity Impersonator Karaoke Contest being held on Nov. 13 from 7 to 10 p.m. in Tequila Joe's has had an outstanding response. More than 20 contestants will compete that night for a $500 first prize that includes an audition for Legends in Concert," Las Vegas' original celebrity tribute show. The event is open to the public and the contestant waiting list being compiled ensures another contest real soon.

Last Wednesday at 2 p.m. the Silverton off I-15 began a program that is continuing every Wednesday. The resort is playing a free movie from the silver screen in the showroom for its players' club members. Wednesday Movie Madness will show everything from classics to new releases.

The MGM Mirage's current corporate Web site is easier with new features and functionality. Visitors can book their room, make dinner reservations and select from up to 10 shows. The site has enhanced room graphics, 360-degree panoramic tours, and a simplified, single-page booking process. In addition, guests can view menus and book dinner reservations at more than 22 restaurants.

Las Vegas Food and Beverage Magazine publisher Michael Politz is now appearing on the national TV news program "Extra" on Friday and Saturday nights. He's revealing his picks for the city's best restaurants.

The new 26-story, 283-unit time share Hilton Grand Vacations Club on Las Vegas Blvd. near the Sahara has finally opened.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Museum Association will benefit from a special public art auction and exhibit at Art Encounter, located at 3979 Spring Mountain Rd., during the day on Nov. 14 and 15. The exhibit will include restored vintage police cars and law enforcement memorabilia from Clark County's police history.

Special travel packages and room rates are available now through December 2003 at New York-New York, Treasure Island and Golden Nugget. Please note that prices listed do not include taxes.

The Golden Nugget has two offers. The Best Room Package involves staying two consecutive nights so you can receive a $25 hotel credit that's good for charges in any Golden Nugget restaurant, showroom, lounge or spa. Prices on special dates range from $40 to $89.

The Best Suite Package starts at $139 per night, Sunday -Thursday. It includes special turndown service with chocolate truffles, one spa pass, per person, per day, and a complimentary cocktail in any casino bar or lounge, per person, per day.

The second annual Cooking With Gustav benefit demonstration will be held this year at BullShrimp located in the Green Valley Ranch Station Casino in Henderson. Gustav is Las Vegas' most televised celebrity chef and one of only 54 Certified Master Chefs in the nation. The event will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 18 with the cooking demo starting at 6 p.m. and dinner being served at 7 p.m. Cost is $50 excluding a gratuity, call 702-942-4110.

Chef Gustav's three Las Vegas restaurants are offering wine tasting dinners this month. Sazio located in The Orleans will start off on Nov. 18 highlighting Columbia Crest wines. Cost is $35, call 702-948-9500. The next night, Nov. 19, will feature Chateau Ste. Michelle Winery at BullShrimp in the Green Valley Ranch resort. Cost is $55, call 702-942-4110. Domaine Select Wine Estates of Italy will be presented at Spiedini at the J.W. Marriott Resort on Nov. 20. Cost again is $55, call 702-869-8500.
