A nationwide show, "A Salute to the Music of Frank Sinatra," is making a stop in Laughlin, Nov. 11 and 12. The show features the Nelson Riddle Orchestra and special guest, Harry Connick Sr. That's right, senior not junior. Tickets are $17.50.

The Nelson Riddle Orchestra had a big stake in Sinatra's musical journey. Sinatra recorded 14 albums with Riddle, including the "swing" albums, "Songs for Swinging' Lovers," "A Swingin' Affair," and "Sinatra's Swing Session." The association with Riddle re-lit Sinatra's career with sky-rocketing record sales. Today the orchestra is under the direction of Riddle's son, Christopher.

The show's added bonus is vocals by Connick Sr., father of the famous Harry Connick Jr., the multi-faceted musician and singer who co-starred recently in the movie "Hope Floats."

Connick Sr. is no stranger to music. He put himself through law school at Loyola University with the income he earned in his record store. As a young man, he purchased and studied many ten-cent songbooks.

Today Connick Sr. occasionally joins his son on stage. Most of his time; however, is taken up with his position as District Attorney, a post he has been elected to five times.

Country superstar Daryle Singletary will appear in the Fiesta Showroom at Harrah's, Nov. 16-18. This Georgia song stylist sprang onto the country scene back in early '96 with his two back-to-back top five hits, "I Let Her Lie" and "I Ain't Never Had Too Much Fun."

While in Laughlin, Singletary will be mixing a little avocation with his vocation, as he will be sneaking away during the day to compete at the Laughlin Team Roping Finals at the Laughlin Events Park. He'll rope all day and sing all night. Tickets to his shows are $16.95, call 702-298-8510.

"Talkin' Turkey" is the promotion running at the Golden Nugget through Nov. 21. Participants will receive a free turkey for 275 points earned on their 24 Karat Club Card or $1,000 and above jackpots on quarter and above machines. Players will receive a second turkey for an additional 275 points earned. Players who earn a total 1,000 points will receive a free Holiday gift.

For each valid jackpot and every 275 points earned, players will receive a voucher/drawing ticket. One part of this ticket will be used to redeem turkeys while the other part will be deposited into a drawing drum Ten $500 drawings will be held randomly on Tuesday, Nov. 21 between 5 and 9 p.m.
