Debbie Reynolds will headline Don Laughlin's Riverside, Nov. 4-9, at 7 p.m. Tickets are $32, call 1-800-227-3849 ext. 616.

Reynolds was born Mary Frances Reynolds in El Paso, Texas. After moving to California, and at age 16, she won the "Miss Burbank" beauty contest, Warner Brothers signed her on a contract, and Jack Warner gave her the name "Debbie."

Warner Bros. traded her away to MGM, where her new training included ballet, tap, acting, voice and diction lessons. Then she was given a role in "Two Weeks With Love" as Jane Powell's little sister and sang "Aba Daba Honeymoon," which became a certified gold record.

Reynolds' first major part was in "Singin' In The Rain" with Gene Kelly and Donald O'Connor. "The Unsinkable Molly Brown" earned her an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress.

While at the Riverside, Debbie Reynolds will be performing a show recounting all her past successes and reliving all her memories.

Movie quality sets of Gargoyles, bats, and towering gothic pillars are infusing Victory Plaza at the Ramada Express with Halloween spirit through midnight on Nov. 1. Gruesome ghouls, goblins, and witches have the run of the place. So ghoulish are the created scenes in the plaza that the vultures are perched in the ready position!

Inside at Grand Junction, the property is "serving up" its own style of horrible treats. All the casino bars are offering ghoulish potions like the Pumpkin Sash, Spooky Smoky Punch and something called Pumpkin Infusion.

On the night of Oct 31, there will be a double header costume contest beginning at 5:30 p.m. with the hotel's employees vying for cash and prizes. The costume contest for the public will follow with cash prizes: $500 for first place, $350 for second and $150 for third.

Victory Plaza is open 24 hours a day. For visitors who are 21 years or older and stop by from 2 - 10 p.m. daily, they can spin the Witch's Wheel, where every spin wins cash or prizes.

A $1.04 million grant has been approved and will mainly be used for improvements at the Laughlin / Bullhead City Airport. The expansion will give the airport at total of three gates and allow for two planes to be loaded or unloaded simultaneously thus allowing the airport to handle more flights.

The airport is currently handling more than 40 commercial flights per month and serving approximately 90,000 passengers per year.
