The queen of cuchi cuchi, Charo, who was twice voted "Best Guitar Player in the World" by "Guitar Player Magazine," will headline at Don's Celebrity Theatre, Nov. 9-14 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $30, call 1-800-227-3849 or 702-298-2535.

Since the early 70's, Charo, the comedian, stage and screen performer, musician and singer, has been an integral proponent of contemporary Latin music. The spotlight on Charo has been shining brighter then ever since she won the "Female Pop Album of the Year" award at the Billboard International Latin Music Conference for her 1995 flamenco inspired platinum album, "Guitar Passion."

Charo has appeared in countless hit television shows, made more than 45 appearances on "The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson," and worked on "The Love Boat" more than any other star. Recently, she has been seen on a nationwide cellular phone commercial for Sprint P.C.S., and made regular appearances on "Hollywood Squares" and VH1's"Surreal Life."

Currently Charo is on tour promoting her latest project "Disco Bolero," which is a mixture of her patented rhythms and classical guitar. On July 26, 2003, Charo first presented Bolero to American audiences during a live performance at Rockefeller Center on NBC's "Today Show,"

Harrah's recently captured awards from "Strictly Slots Magazine," a national casino industry publication. The results of the annual "Best Of Slots" readers' poll noted 40 first place awards for the resort.

Earlier this year, Harrah's Laughlin received 38 first place awards from "Casino Player," six top honors from "Nevada Magazine," and three top nods from the "Mohave Valley Daily News."

Harrah's recently made property improvements, such as remodeling the Fresh Market Square Buffet, and adding a new poker room and Starbucksr store.

The West Coast National Sand Drags with sand dragsters competing in a wide variety of classes on a course set up near the Avi beach will take place Nov 4-7. The Outdoor Channel will be filming the event for broadcast, Thursday-Sunday with times and tickets TBA. For entry, contact Kenny Larson at 928-587-9385 or Richard Holmes at 602-721-0965.

The special event tent at the Avi will host the Gun, Knife and Fishing Show, Dec 17-19, where you can buy, sell, or trade a wide variety of guns, knives and fishing gear. Hours are Friday from noon-8 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m.-6 p.m., and Sunday 9 a.m.-4 pm. Admission is $5 for adults and free for children 12 and under; special three-day pass is $10. The Colorado Belle will host the International Coin, Currency and Stamp Expo, Nov. 5-7, featuring millions of dollars worth of stamps, gold and silver coins and currencies for viewing and purchase in the Mardi Gras Room. There will be a wide selection of hobby supplies and free appraisals on Friday, 11 a.m.-6 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m.-6 p.m., and Sunday 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Tickets are $2 for adults (good for all three days), $1 for seniors, and free for children under 12. The Ramada Express has turned their Victory Plaza located along Casino Drive into a "gothic garden." Movie-set quality props and ghoulish creatures are populating the plaza through Nov. 1. Decorations are also inside the casino.

A costume contest will be held at the Ramada Express in the Caboose Lounge on Oct. 31 at 7 p.m. The first place prize will be $500, second $350 and third $150.

The Golden Nugget will hold a costume party in Tarzan's Nightclub.

The Riverside will hold two free Halloween parties. One will be in the Loser's Lounge with the costume contest from 11 p.m. to midnight and the other in Lightning Strikes The Dance Club with the costume contest from 9 - midnight. Prizes for each contest are $150 for first place, $100 for second and $50 for third. For information, call 702-298-2535.

Lesley Gore will appear at the Riverside, Oct, 26 - 31. Tickets are $32, call 1-800-227-3849. She will also attend a press conference on Oct. 26 at 3 p.m. in front of Don's Celebrity Theatre that will air live on KRCY 103.9FM.

At age 17, Gore's song "It's My Party" reached No. 1 one and by 21 she had recorded 11 Top 40 hits. Other recognizable tunes include "Judy's Turn To Cry," "That's The Way Boys Are," and "Sunshine, Lollipops and Rainbows."

After Gore's recording career tapered off, she acted in summer stock productions, and starred on Broadway in 1999 in "Smokey Joe's Café." She also graduated from Sarah Lawrence University and learned how to compose music.

Vicki Lawrence will follow Gore, Nov. 3-7. Tickets are $34.

As a senior in high school, Lawrence sent a letter and newspaper clipping to Carol Burnett mentioning a resemblance between the two. After meeting Lawrence at a local "Miss Fireball Contest," Burnett contacted her to play the role of her kid sister on a new television series in 1967, "The Carol Burnett Show." The two ladies spent 11 years making America laugh! During that time, Lawrence received a Gold Record for her international hit single, "The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia."

Lawrence took her character Mama, and went on to star in her own TV series, "Mama's Family."
