Evening Star Productions and 97.1 The Point have announced that the Trans-Siberian Orchestra's (TSO) Winter Tour 2005 will stop at the Aladdin Theatre for Performing Arts at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 8. Tickets are $32 and $42 plus tax and service charges, call 702-474-4000.
Their annual seven-week tour has been growing at a record-breaking rate and local fans will be in amazement at the new dazzling visual experience the band displays. The most successful annual tour in North America, TSO's winter tour is not only the top-grossing and best-attended holiday tour of the year, but its biggest sensory extravaganza as well. Live, TSO entails an orchestral string section, a full rock band, multiple vocalists, a narrator, extensive pyrotechnics, a stunning laser- and a light show second only to the Aurora Borealis.

HBO and AEG Live have announced more programming and released tickets to the general public for their first The Comedy Festival (TCF) to be held from Nov. 17-19. Ticket prices range from $25 - $125; call 877-TCF-FEST.
New programming is varied. There will be Family Guy Live In Vegas with executive producer and star Seth MacFarlane, cast members Alex Bornstein, Walter Murphy and a 30-piece orchestra performing a one-of-a-kind live concert. The Founders - Hosted by Larry King will be a trip through the colorful history of comedy in Las Vegas. Lucha Va Voom will be a combination of Mexican wrestlers, burlesque striptease performers and comedy. Women With Attitude will highlight Susie Essman, the foul-mouthed, no-nonsense Mrs. Greene on the Emmy-winning HBO series "Curb Your Enthusiasm," performing with special guests Lisa Lampenelli and Loni Love. George Wallace will deliver his funny banter in a show. VH-1 Best Week Ever Live will come to life on the Vegas stage and feature Paul Scheer, Christian Finnegan, Aziz Ansari and Doug Benson. And, Global Comedy - will showcase a mix of international comics.
The Art of Peter Max Gallery at The Forum Shops will host an in-gallery exhibition with world-renowned artist Peter Max on Friday, Nov. 25 from 6 to 9 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 26 from 1 to 4 p.m. Beginning Monday, Nov. 21, collectors can view the installation of paintings that will be on display during the event and available for purchase. For each painting purchased, Max inscribes a priceless personal dedication and drawing on the back of the artwork.
Max has been designated as the official artist of the 2006 Winter Olympic Games in Torino, Italy, and will unveil the new image he created for the Games during the in-gallery exhibition. In addition, the gallery will debut a painting Max created to commemorate the 60th birthday of golf legend Jack Nicklaus. This unique acrylic on canvas is hand-signed by both the artist and Nicklaus.
With an audience that is estimated to be in the millions, Max has a long-standing career as the most preeminent Pop artist in America and is well known for his paintings of the Statue of Liberty and his association with the United Nations. The Dukes of Dixieland is a sextet that had been playing dinner cruises on the Steamboat Natchez riverboat in New Orleans before Hurricane Katrina. The band scattered after the disaster and has reunited to work at the new Celebrity on Third Street until Oct. 28.

On Dec. 15, Mayor Oscar B. Goodman will attend the Centennial Time Capsule dedication ceremony, which will take place at Centennial Plaza (Fourth Street, near Lewis Avenue) at 11 a.m. The Centennial Time Capsule will commemorate the 100 year history of Las Vegas.
The white bubble-shaped showroom at the Lady Luck that hosted its first show in the building in early 1991 will become history at the end of this month. That also means the "Ovation" variety revue and hypnotist Justin Tranz will be giving their final performances in the room on Oct. 31. "Ovation" has been in the showroom 14 months and Tranz started there in July.
"Forever Plaid" at the Gold Coast will be transformed into "Plaid Tidings" during the holiday season from Nov. 17-Dec. 31. The show will have a new scenario in which a call from Rosemary Clooney sets the four singing ghosts on a mission to create a Christmas show.
The biggest names in music will return to the Aladdin Theatre for the Performing Arts for the 2005 Radio Music Awards on Monday, Dec. 19. The show will be broadcast in a live two-hour telecast on NBC. The Radio Music Awards celebrates successes in radio airplay for musicians from many genres including pop, rock, country, R&B and hip hop. This year's show will include a special salute to country music featuring a performance by Keith Urban.
The Tangerine Lounge and Nightclub at TI will be presenting a Halloween "Monster Mash" with DJ Jazzy Jeff and a $10,000 costume contestt on Monday, Oct. 31 beginning at 10 p.m. For information, call 702-212-8140.
The Teatro Euro Bar will present back-to-back naughty nights with the introduction of "Dusk Till Dawn 2005." The 21st annual Las Vegas Houdini Séance conducted by Dixie Dooley will take place on Halloween day, Oct. 31, and begin at 1:26 p.m.. the exact time Houdini departed from this world. CBS Sports, a division of CBS Broadcasting, Inc., will televise the inaugural Las Vegas World Invitational, the world's richest equestrian show jumping event, on Saturday, Dec. 31. The 90-minute show will lead into the national telecast of the Denver Broncos - San Diego Chargers NFL game on New Year's Eve. The inaugural LVWI will feature the world's 25 best show jumping riders, who competed last weekend at the Thomas & Mack Arena in four events over two days for $1 million in prize money, the largest purse in the history of Grand Prix competition.
The Riviera is releasing a Happy Halloween 2005 chip on Oct. 31, at 9:30 a.m. at the hotel's Casino Cage. The face value is $5 with a limited edition of 500. Three scary characters reveal their alter egos on the flip side of this fun chip- "Ghouls Just Wanna Have Fun!"

The Vegoose at Night Concert Series performances offer a variety of shows to augment the performances and attractions scheduled for the Sam Boyd Stadium complex over Halloween weekend. Moe is a jam band formed at the University at Buffalo in 1990.
The Moving Wall, a 253-foot-long half-scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington D.C., will visit Las Vegas Nov. 10-13 as part of a four-day national kickoff for Operation Welcome Home-a one-year celebration to publicly honor, thank and recognize America's Vietnam veterans.
The Moving Wall is the original traveling Vietnam Wall and like the memorial in Washington D.C. displays the names of more than 58,200 war veterans who gave their lives. The site for The Moving Wall's Las Vegas visit is adjacent to Fremont Street at the Main Street Station where Boyd Gaming has donated use of its secluded valet parking lot next to the Plaza Hotel. The display will be open to the public from Nov. 10 to 14.
Other Operation Welcome Home weekend events include opening ceremonies on Nov. 10, the Las Vegas Veterans Day Parade Nov. 11, and a nightly Patriot Party at the Fremont Street Experience on Nov. 11 and 12. Aviation Nation-the Nellis Air Force Base-Las Vegas Centennial Air Show on Nov. 12 and 13 will cap off the weekend's events and will include a USO Show and numerous aviation demonstrations including the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds.
The Las Vegas Philharmonic and The Ritz-Carlton at Lake Las Vegas are presenting a luxurious New Year's Eve event with a Viennese Ball and Getaway Weekend package. The holiday package includes a two-night stay, an exclusive invitation to the Champagne-Chandon Reception and VIP access to the Viennese gala-a black-tie affair modeled after the famous Kaiser Ball in Vienna, Austria.
Following an afternoon jewelry show, the gala begins at 8 p.m. on Dec. 31 with cocktails and hors d'oeuvres in the Grand Ballroom.
