Mickey Rooney will headline at the Ramada Express in the Pavilion Theater on Oct. 14 and 15. The versatile performer over the past six decades has appeared in more than 300 films, starred on Broadway and played concert engagements. For his portrayal of Bill Sechter in the television film "Bill," Rooney received an Emmy, The Golden Globe and Peabody Awards. Tickets are $21.50. His last appearance at the Ramada Express in April was a sell-out.

The Kingston Trio will follow Rooney at the Ramada Express on Oct. 21 and 22. The folk-oriented singing trio's peculiar spin on the traditional made them a must-see act for the college crowd of the 50's and 60's. Their unforgettable hits "Tom Dooley," "Scotch and Soda," "MTA" and "It Takes A Worried Man" strongly aided the revival of folk style music. Tickets are $15 for their 8 p.m. shows.

The new Beach Club Bingo room at the River Palms opened last month. The resort recently remodeled the Crystal Sands Showroom and turned it into a bingo room.

The new 300 plus-seat bingo room is larger with a lot of wide open space. It has better lighting, televisions to show the bingo balls, lowered tables and a bigger cage area.

Beach Club Bingo also has a self-service cocktail area where players can treat themselves to free soda, coffee and tea, and Danish's are available during the 9 a.m. session. A cocktail waitress also services the bingo room.

The bingo room is open daily and features eight sessions at 9 and 11 a.m., plus 1 , 3, 5, 7, 9 and 11 p.m. Twelve games are featured during each session which lasts approximately one hour. However, members of the resort's free Players Club are eligible to play a free 13th game during the 1 and 7 p.m. sessions.

Bingo players can also get in on the Power Ball progressive jackpot. It costs $1, and the jackpot continues to increase until someone wins. The first number called is the "power ball" number, and in order to win the jackpot, a player must bingo with the power ball number.

Another highlight at the Beach Club Bingo room is the Fortunet machines, "Bingo Made Easy" sit-down or hand-held machines. The devices need to be requested while registering for a session so they can be programmed according to the player's bingo cards. The machines detect when players' numbers are called. There is a three pack per unit minimum (a $15 minimum buy-in) and a six pack per unit maximum. For more information, all 1-877-787-7256 or 702-298-2242.

Throughout October, Harrah's is celebrating the annual German tradition of "Oktoberfest" with nightly drawings and food and beverage specials. There's free live entertainment when the polka and other German music is played by the Dummkopf's as they wander throughout the casino from 4-10 p.m.

The daily 7 p.m. drawings are held at the Harrah's Skyways display, located adjacent to the Cabo Grille. Entrants have a chance to win up to$5,000 a day in cash and prizes, which includes trips for two to places like Spain, Italy, London, Egypt and Hong Kong.

The drawing format is based on the popular television game show "Let's Make A Deal," except in Harrah's promotion, a plane display offers concealed prizes behind airplane windows. Winners must be present and have valid identification. All entries are removed from the drawing drum nightly.

Besides gambling, entries may be earned by many different methods such as checking into the hotel or spending $25 dining.

The Colorado Belle has action every Monday night through Dec. 25, for football and non-football fans. There's gaming incentives throughout the casino, like "double" points for slot play when using a Club Belle card.

In the Belle's Boiler Room microbrewery, football fans can catch the NFL action. Every time either team scores during the Monday night game, a ticket will be drawn from the drum for three chances at hitting the targets on the Toss Board for cash. A Club Belle card will "double" your cash prize up to $500.

After the game at 10 p.m., Grand Prize drawings are held at the foot of the Belle's Grand Staircase. Drawing tickets can be earned up until 9:45 p.m. Grand prizes include NFL tickets, Video Recliners, TVs and satellite dishes, NFL themed prize packs, a fully stocked Miller Lite can shaped refrigerator, trips and race tickets.

The Edgewater offers afternoon specials in the Garden Room restaurant located on the river walk level. Served daily from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., meals begin as low as $2.99 for a Burger Basket, which includes a 1/3 pound burger and fries. Meals include a choice of soup or salad, rolls, a choice of coffee tea or a soft drink and a scoop of ice ream for dessert. Chicken and fries are $3.99 and the Shrimp Basket with a half pound of shrimp and fries is $4.99.

Tarzan's Nightclub in the Golden Nugget has become so successful that there's usually a waiting line. As an incentive, the hotel has initiated VIP Cards that save time and money. VIP memberships are offered on a tiered pricing system and are paid on an annual basis.

The Silver for $50 gives the card holder unlimited line pass privileges. Gold for $100 allows the member and one guest free admission and unlimited line pass privileges. Platinum for $250 includes free admission for the member and up to five guests and unlimited line passes.
