The Beach Boys will perform a one night concert at Harrah's Laughlin on Sunday, Sept. 17, in the Rio Vista Outdoor Amphitheater. Tickets start at $25, call 702-298-8510.

The original boys of summer had their first hit with "Surfin'" in 1961. However, by keeping their music fresh over 40 years, they had their biggest selling hit ever in 1989 with the multi-pllatinum "Kokomo." The group hasn't had a summer off since they began touring in 1961.

The Ramada Express will serve up a double dose of 60s music with a combination show featuring The Association and The Happenings on Sept. 9 and 10. Tickets are $22.50, call 1-800-243-6846.

The Association was formed in 1965. Three of their hits "Cherish," "Never My Love," and "Windy" are considered standards and played almost as much today as they were in the 60s.

Producing over 30 million records, earning six gold discs and one platinum disc aided in making their album, "The Association's Greatest Hits," one of the longest best-selling albums in the Warner Brothers company's history.

The Happenings had million seller hits like "See You In September," "Go Away Little Girl," "I Got Rhythm" and "My Mammy." The trio captures the classic signature sound that made the group a worldwide favorite for over 30 years.

The Professional Bull Rider's (PBR) Bud Light Cup is returning to Laughlin for its fourth big year, Sept. 22-23. The Colorado Belle is offering a special Shoot-Out stay package that includes two nights accommodations - Sept. 22-23, event tickets, brunch for two at the new Captain's Food Fare on Saturday or Sunday from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m., a gaming incentive and chances to win National Finals Rodeo (NFR) tickets with accommodations in Las Vegas this December.

A bonus with the Shoot-Out package is a free night to be used this winter between Nov. 29 to Jan. 25, excluding holidays and with some restrictions.

The Laughlin Shoot-Out room packages start at $149 complete, including tax. Packages with Friday and Saturday event tickets start at $169. To make reservations, call 1-800-477-4837 or go on the Internet at www.coloradobelle.com.

Hypnotist Szeles will perform in Tarzan's Nightclub at the Golden Nugget every Wednesday night in September on 6,13, 20 and 27. Szeles has been performing stage hypnosis throughout the United States and England for the past 15 years. His one-man show focuses on the powers of suggestion.

Inviting audience participation, Szeles transforms willing participants into famous celebrities, Martians conversing through a translator, mimes flying kits and a host of other hilarious and entertaining routines. One thing is for sure, no two shows are alike.

Making on-line room reservations at the Edgewater is faster and easier because of the implementation of a new program called Res Net. The new system instantly allows guests to know the Edgewater's room rates for specific days and can give a confirmation code within approximately 30 seconds of completing the on-line room reservation process.

When visiting the Edgewater's on-line reservation site, patrons find a four-month, color-coded calendar. Although the calendar only shows information for four months, guests can book as far ahead as one year.

A credit card is required and it will be charged for the first night rate plus tax as a deposit.

Discounts are not offered with the on-line reservations. But if a guest sees a special price like in a newspaper or magazine ad, they can e-mail the reservations department and request that discount, which will be done in-house.

Football fans can join in on Monday Night Football parties in Tarzan's at the Golden Nugget for the football season running Monday, Sept. 4 through Dec. 25, 2000. This year the Golden Nugget is giving away replica jerseys, T-shirts, hats, key chains and a trip for two to the Pro-Bowl in Hawaii. There will also be Budweiser beer specials, live broadcasts from Lucky 98 FM, and food can be ordered through Jane's Grill.

The Pioneer is hosting a miniature golf tournament to benefit the Boys and Girls Clubs on Oct. 15. Sign-ups and tee sponsorships are being taken now. The entry fee is $100 per player. Tee sponsorships are also $100. For information, call 702-298-2442 or 1-800-634-3469.

The actual tournament will take place on holes set up within the casino, plus around and throughout the grounds of the resort. The holes are constructed and designed by the resort's engineering department.
