NEW SLS LAS VEGAS WILL SHOWCASE NEW DINING CONCEPTS!

SLS Las Vegas opens Aug. 23 with more than 1,600 guest rooms and suites in three distinctive towers, impressive dining concepts, a 10,000-square-foot Fred Segal retail experience and the luxurious Ciel Spa.

Leading the resort's culinary charge is SLS Hotels' Culinary Director, world-renowned chef José Andrés, who is unveiling two brand new restaurants. Bazaar Meat by Andrés is the third incarnation of the award-winning Bazaar dining concept seating 335 and featuring an open kitchen with wood-and-charcoal-fired grills and ovens. His second eatery is Asian-themed Ku Noodle.

Other restaurants will include: The Griddle Café debuting its first location outside of Los Angeles; Cleo with a striking pyramid-shaped entrance and 14-foot image of Cleopatra; acclaimed Japanese standout Katsuya by Starck; 800 Degrees Neapolitan Pizzeria; Umami Burger, Beer Garden & Sports Book; The SLS Buffet open daily for breakfast, dinner and weekend brunch; and the European-inspired café The Perq. Libations will be available at the Monkey Bar and 24/7 Center Bar.

17° SOUTH AT TAHITI VILLAGE IS NOW OPEN TO THE PUBLIC

The owners of Tahiti Village on Las Vegas Blvd. are introducing their restaurant 17° South previously only available to hotel guests to the public. The new dining experience is helmed by Chef John Gremo, who graduated from UNLV and was their executive chef for 20 years.

The all-day menu starts at $7 and is diverse and affordable with the “bits and bites” portion of the menu offering ribs, mac and cheese with ham and crab cakes, and items beginning at $5.

Hours for 17° South are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily with the bar staying open until 2 a.m. Located in the floor-to-ceiling windowed eastern corner of the main lobby, 17° South offers an outside deck complete with televisions and views of the immense main pool and landscaped courtyard. The restaurant/bar seats 80 indoors and another 30 on the outdoor deck and does offer table top gaming and two slot machines.

FESTIVINO RETURNS AT THE VENETIAN® AND THE PALAZZO®

Festivino, a full-bodied festival celebrating old world and new world wines paired with delicious dishes from the finest chefs, will be held on Friday, Sept. 26, from 7-10 p.m. at The Venetian and The Palazzo. All-inclusive tickets at www.venetian.com or any in-house hotel box office are $85 and $75 for Grazie loyalty card holders.

For many vineyards around the world, now is the perfect time of year to harvest. During Festivino, guests can mingle and learn about the celebrated wines from master sommeliers and enjoy culinary specialties while surrounded by the Waterfall Atrium of The Palazzo with its seasonal décor.

Master sommeliers and Master Chefs of France participating include David Werly, Frederic Castan, Jean -Louis Dumonet, Jerome Ferrer, Claude Le-Tohic, Steve Benjamin, Bernard Liberatore, Nico Romo, Claude Godard and Olivier Dubreuil, executive chef of The Venetian and The Palazzo.

THE COSMOPOLITAN HOLDS ORIGINAL MARGARITA FESTIVAL

The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas will celebrate Mexican Independence Day on Monday, Sept. 15 by hosting a series of cultural events including: The Original Margarita Festival at Boulevard Pool; the patriotic “Grito Mexicano” at The Chandelier; Mariachi El Bronx at Book & Stage; and roaming mariachi bands throughout the resort.

The evening will highlight unlimited margarita tastings at The Cosmopolitan's inaugural Original Margarita Festival from 7 to 11 p.m. and showcase celebrated mixologists and their signature Margarita recipes. The top three mixologists will be handed secret ingredients in a beverage competition. Tickets are $40 at www.cosmopolitanlasvegas.com or through Ticketmaster.

Also at the resort, eight mariachi performers and six folkloric dancers will roam and entertain daily from Sept. 12 through 15 until the midnight hour and at 10:30 p.m. Mariachi El Bronx, the alter ego of acclaimed punk outfit The Bronx, will perform live at Book & Stage.

To culminate the celebration, The Cosmopolitan will ring in the official Grito Mexicano - a cry of patriotism - through a ceremonial ringing of the bell at midnight with an official performance on Sept. 15 at The Chandelier.

PLANS FOR ALL NET RESORT & ARENA

The $1.4 billion, privately-funded multi-use development All Net Resort & Arena is planned for the site next to SLS where Wet ‘N Wild was once located. The facility is supposed to seat up to 22,000 for basketball, have a mixed-use retail Victory Plaza, a 16-screen Cineplex, a 44-story 500 VIP Spa Suites Tower Night Club with one level overlooking the Strip, a Trader Joe's or equivalent grocery, major health & wellness center-24/7 operation for sports, conventions, concerts, etc.

THE GRAMERCY RETAIL-RESIDENTIAL COMMUNITY WILL OPEN IN PHASES

Las Vegas will soon have another new place to shop, eat, live and socialize in the southwest part of the valley. The Gramercy, named after the iconic New York City park, is scheduled to open in phases beginning this fall. The 500,000 square-foot lifestyle village with retail will have a modern urban atmosphere with a nine-story high-rise featuring 85 residences and a private rooftop pool and party deck and a four-story mid-rise with 160 residences overlooking a second pool.

Harvest Festival® Original Arts & Craft Show will celebrate its 27th year in Las Vegas and once again transform Cashman Center Sept. 5-7 into a shopping paradise with special hand-crafted one-of-kind gift and original items.

Many artists will be demonstrating and traditional and contemporary items for sale will include such items as woodcarvings, jewelry, ceramics and pottery, hand-painted clothing, leather wear, fiber art, hand blown glassware, wooden toys, original oil and watercolor paintings, metal stone and wood sculpture, lithographs, seasonal wreaths, hand-turned furniture and candles, food treats and much more. The Food Court Stage will feature live entertainment.

General admission is $9, $7 for seniors 62 and older, $4 for youths 13-17, and free for 12 and under. There is a $2 off offer on general admission for attendees bringing a can of food, baby food, or formula, or paper products that will go to Safe Nest. Hours are daily at 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and 5 p.m. on Sunday.

NORM CLARKE WILL INTERVIEW FRANK MARINO AT THE SMITH CENTER

“Conversations With Norm” is a quarterly presentation featuring Norm Clarke of the Las Vegas Review Journal interviewing celebrities at Cabaret Jazz in The Smith Center. His next appearance on Sunday, Sept. 28 at 2 p.m. will have “Frank Marino: Under Oath.” The star of “Divas” at the Quad and headliner in heels for 30 years on the Strip has agreed to a no-holds-barred interview with Clarke. Tickets are $24-$35 and will include a voucher good for up to four free tickets to “Divas Las Vegas.” Proceeds from the show will benefit the education and outreach programming of The Smith Center.

In celebration of Mexican Independence Day weekend, Mexican musician, composer and record producer, Marco Antonio Solís, will perform inside The AXIS Powered by Monster at Planet Hollywood on Friday, Sept. 12 at 9 p.m.

Solís is one of the most important figures in the rise of Mexican and Latin music to world prominence. Over the past three decades, he has launched group and solo careers. “Trozos de Mi Alma, Vol. 2” earned Solís a Grammy nomination for Best Latin Pop Album. During his extensive career, he has had more than 30 entries on Billboard's Hot Latin Tracks chart, including several number one hits. Tickets range from $65 - $200.

Local culinary husband and wife team Elizabeth Blau and Kim Canteenwalla, owners of neighborhood restaurant Honey Salt, are opening their new west side dining destination, Made LV on Aug. 18 at Tivoli Village. Made LV will feature a Chef Canteenwalla menu of inspired comfort food favorites complemented by Blau's signature healthy touch. The Salted Lime Mexican cantina at Aliante will celebrate Mexican Independence Day with food and drink specials during a five-day fiesta Sept. 12-16. OPPORTUNITY VILLAGE TRANSFORMS MAGICAL FOREST INTO ‘HALLOVEEN’

Opportunity Village is preparing for the second family-friendly “HallOVeen” at the Magical Forest that will be held weekends in October, Halloween Eve and Halloween night from 5-9 p.m. This event will feature games, crafts, attractions, parades, haunted adventure and entertainment while the Magical Forest will be shrouded in Halloween wonderment. MAYWEATHER PROMOTIONS FIGHT NIGHT SET FOR AUG. 30 AT THE PALMS

Mayweather Promotions will present the star-studded “Desert Showdown” featuring undefeated super middleweight contender J'Leon Love taking on the dangerous Rogelio Medina from The Pearl at Palms on Saturday, Aug. 30. Other hard-hitting action will have Badou Jack face off with Jason Escalera in the evening's co-main event. The event will also features Chris Pearson vs. Steve Martinez and Ronald Gavril vs. Thomas Falowo. Fights will broadcast live as part of ShoBox: The New Generation on Showtime, which will air at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT. Tickets are $25, $50, $75 and $100.

The Laugh Factory at the New Tropicana Resort Aug. 18-24 will feature a manic-human laugh machine, Angel Salazar, who will be headlining with Brandon “Gooch” Hahn and Penny Prince hosting. Salazar with his Cuban heritage is known for his signature saying “Sheck it out” (check it out). He's been in numerous major films, including “Scarface,” “Carlito's Way, “Where The Buffalo Roam,” “Punchline,” and the cult film, “The Wild Life.”

South Point Arena will host the Las Vegas Cutting Horse Association's (LVCHA) “Futurity,” “Open Cutting” and “Aged Cutting” events Aug. 19-27. Throughout the week, fans can witness an equestrian cutting show, visit an expo and purchase items such as jewelry, shirts, boots, hats and more at the Western Gift Show in the Arena's concourse. This event is free and open to the public.

The free 3rd annual Spotlight Spectacular Summer Fest, which is a health, lifestyle and entertainment extravaganza for seniors, veterans and the family, will be held Saturday, Aug. 23 from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at The Orleans in the Mardi Gras and Esplanade Ballrooms. There will be 100 exhibitors and entertainment with Jazzin' Jeanne Brei, The Bruce Harper Big Band and a stellar lineup.

Smash Magazine is featuring a rock Battle of the Bands beginning Saturday, Aug. 23 at Hooters at 9:30 p.m. Cost is $7 day of show. The battle will continue on Sept. 6 and 13, with finals on Sept. 20.

The Cannery Casino will host the “Together We Can” fundraiser presented by Smiths. The food, beverage, entertainment event with keynote speaker Punam Mathur will be held Saturday, Sept. 20 to benefit Three Square and feature special musical performances by students from the Las Vegas Academy of Performing Arts. Boca Park Fashion Village will host an Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation charity event for childhood cancer on Saturday, Aug. 30 from noon to 6 p.m. The festivities will include a signature Alex's Lemonade Stand, a fashion show, carnival games, music, and more. The event is open to the public of all ages with free admission.

Las Vegas Airline has started weekly inbound, non-stop flights from Spain to Las Vegas. Unique to each trip is a Las Vegas-style show with performers and a featured superstar from Spain and the plane's interior is configured like a nightclub.

‘FREAKSHOW WRESTLING: THE END OF THE WORLD PARTY’ RETURNS

After a one-year hiatus, Freakshow Wrestling will return on Friday, Aug. 29 at Helltown Studios, 6425 W. Richmar Ave. Presented by Smash Magazine, “Freakshow Wrestling: The End of the World Party” co-hosted by the Amazing Johnathan and Jenn O. Cide features freaky fun including helicopters, wrestling legends, a zombie invasion, explosions and a clown army. Freakshow Wrestling is the brainchild of World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc. legend Sinn Bodhi (“Kizarny”). Tickets are $20 through www.ticketfly.com.

2014 ROCKSTAR ENERGY UPROAR FESTIVAL FEATURES GODSMACK

The 2014 Rockstar Energy UPROAR Festival, which started in 2010, will feature multi-platinum band Godsmack, along with Skillet and Pop Evil, when it stops at The Joint at Hard Rock on Wednesday, Sept. 17 at 7 p.m. Tickets start at $49.50.

TUFF-N-UFF RETURNS TO CASABLANCA IN MESQUITE

The nation's amateur mixed martial arts promotion, Tuff-N-Uff, is bringing its action-packed fights and “Future Stars of MMA” back to Mesquite, Nev., (an 80-minute drive from Las Vegas) live from the Casablanca resort on Saturday, Aug. 23 at 6 p.m. Tuff-N-Uff Champion Michael Hobby will defend his Lightweight Belt against Ian Lujan who is vacating his Featherweight Belt to make 135 lb. debut. Las Vegas-based Tuff-N-Uff is a 20-year old combat sports organization that has presented the best amateur mixed martial arts (MMA) action in the nation since 2003.

CABO WABO CANTINA HOSTS KNOCKOUT UFC VIEWING PARTIES

Cabo Wabo Cantina inside Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood will host action-packed viewing parties for upcoming headliner Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) fights on Saturdays, Aug. 30 and Sept. 27. Cabo Wabo's new upstairs lounge, The Loft, will show each championship bout on two 180-inch projector screens along with a number of high-definition flat-screen TVs. There will be an admission fee.

In addition to the championship fights, Cabo Wabo will feature complimentary admission and drink specials during UFC Fight Night events shown on FOX on Aug. 23 and Sept. 5.
