The Ramada Express continues to present its free Thanks for the Memories Speaker Program. Hearing stories from remarkable people is a rare opportunity but a regular happening on a weekly basis at the American Heroes Museum of Memories. The effect of hearing historic events first hand is difficult to describe - but well worth experiencing. Here are the speakers for the next three Tuesdays at 1 p.m.

On Aug. 12, Dave Miller who joined the Navy in 1959, before there was a group called Navy SEALS, became a member of the UDT (Underwater Demolition Team). With four tours of duty in Vietnam, his job was to swim 10 to 15 miles up the Mekong Delta in the black of night to place explosives in targeted areas and then make the return swim.

Dennis Leslie will create a living history event on Aug. 19. He was a member of the Douglas MacArthur Foundation and Museum in Norfolk, Virginia and has been portraying the General in documentaries, parades and military events for the past 20 years.

Ed Owen will take center stage on Aug. 26. Owens, a 5th Division Marine, was given a Presidential Citation for repairing and installing vital phone lines on Feb. 22, 1945 to the assault companies during the battle of Iwo Jima. He will speak about the battle of Iwo Jima and the flag raising in Mt. Suribachi.

New members joining the 24-Karat club at the Golden Nugget continue to receive a free stainless steel travel mug and a Starbucks tall coffee of the day. New members who earn points during their first 24 hours of play can earn additional gifts.

Bonus gifts are being awarded to specific royal flushes hit on the Fortune 1 video poker machines located in Sassy Sue's River Bar at the Pioneer. The bonuses are: Mondays (hearts royal), meal for two in the Boardinghouse Restaurant; Tuesdays (clubs royal), brunch for two in Granny's; Wednesdays (spades royal), "I Roped A Royal" souvenir T-shirt; Thursdays (diamond royal), seafood buffet for two.
