SHANIA TWAIN COMMITS TO CAESARS PALACE RESIDENCY

It's in the distance, but Shania Twain, international superstar and the world's best-selling female country artist of all time, has confirmed that she will return to the stage and vocal spotlight with a two-year residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace. The music icon will unveil her new show “SHANIA: STILL THE ONE” on Dec. 1, 2012. Ticket range from $55 to $250, call 800-745-3000 or go online at www.shaniainvegas.com.

Twain recently received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and with her first memoir entitled “From This Moment On” climbing the New York Times Best Sellers list, Twain's meteoric star continues to shine bright. Her docu-series on OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network “Why Not? With Shania Twain” debuted on May 8 as the-highest rated premier to date for the network.

PLAZA DOWNTOWN SET TO REOPEN SEPT. 1

The Plaza downtown will reopen on Sept. 1 after an extensive remodel job to the 40-year-old property. The hotel-casino closed in September 2010 for a $35 million renovation of the casino, restaurants and more than 1,000 hotel rooms. The rooms have been refurbished with new wall coverings, furnishings, floors and fixtures, all purchased at a discounted price from the halted Fontainebleau project on the Strip. One amenity not returning to the Plaza is Firefly, a tapas restaurant formerly located in the glass dome overlooking Fremont Street.

GEORGE LOPEZ PERFORMS FOR FIRST TIME AT THE MIRAGE

Popular comedian, actor, author and talk show host, George Lopez, will make his debut at The Mirage, Aug. 12-13 and Oct. 28 – 29 and do 10 p.m. shows. Lopez currently stars in the late-night show “Lopez Tonight” on TBS. Tickets are $69.99 to $89.99.

Lopez has made more than 200 television comedy, talk show and host appearances, including co-hosting the Emmy® Awards and hosting the Latin GRAMMY® Awards twice. In 2004, he released his comedy album “Team Leader” which earned him a GRAMMY® nomination. His 2009 comedy special, “George Lopez: Tall, Dark and Chicano,” was the highest-rated stand-up special on HBO in five years. Lopez wrote his autobiography “Why You Crying?,” which landed on The New York Times Top 20 Best Sellers list.

RON WHITE HEADLINES AT THE MIRAGE

Popular comedian Ron White is set to return to The Mirage to perform at 10 p.m. on July 15 – 16; Aug. 5 – 6; Sept. 2 – 3; Oct. 21 – 22; and Dec. 2 – 3, 9 – 10. Tickets are $194.48.

Ron “Tater Salad” White is best known as the cigar smoking, scotch drinking funnyman from the “Blue Collar Comedy” phenomenon. His past accomplishments include two GRAMMY ® nominations, a Gold Record and two of the top-rated one-hour specials in Comedy Central history. In addition, White's book, “I Had the Right to Remain Silent… But I Didn't Have the Ability,” appeared on The New York Times Best Sellers list.

98 DEGREEs' JEFF TIMMONS EXTENDS CHIPPENDALES® GIG

Former 98 Degrees star, Jeff Timmons is extending his role as Chippendales® special musical guest star and emcee at the Rio through Sept. 4. Timmons' initial four-week engagement was already extended two weeks through June 19.

In addition to selling more than 15 million albums worldwide, 98 Degrees' albums have reached gold or platinum status in more than 60 countries.

CONNIE STEVENS-JOHN BYNER PERFORM AT RIVIERA

The multi-talented actress, producer and recording artist Connie Stevens will take the stage at the Riviera with accomplished actor and comedian John Byner, July 6 - 17 in the Starlite Theatre. Shows will run nightly Wednesday through Sunday at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $39.95 and $59.95.

Stevens' musical career spans over 50 years and began when she first sang in a group called The Three Debs at the age of 16 prior to being a solo artist with the Warner Brothers label. Stevens recorded major hits in the 1960s including “Kookie Kookie (Lend Me Your Comb),” a duet with Edward Byrnes and “Sixteen Reasons.” In the hit series, “Hawaiian Eye,” she was propelled to fame. Her television work also includes “Maverick” as well as “77 Sunset Strip,” “Wendy and Me” with George Burns, several other television roles and movies.

John Byner

Hailed as a “Man of a Thousand Impressions,” Byner's stand-up comedy career began in New York's Greenwich Village at Max Gordon's jazz club, Village Vanguard, and then he became a major opening act. Byner's television career began on Merv Griffin's “Talent Scouts Show” in 1964 and success ensued with appearances on network shows and starring roles.

ORLEANS HOLDS THE OASIS OLD SCHOOL SUMMER JAM

The Orleans Arena will host the 105.7 The Oasis Old School Summer Jam on Saturday, July 23 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $20, $35 and $65.

NORM CROBSY PERFORMS AT SUNCOAST

Norm Crosby aka “The Master of Malapropos” with a knack for intelligent wordplay will bring his trademark act to the Suncoast Showroom, July 16 and 17. Funnyman Sammy Shore, the man who made Elvis laugh, will open for Crosby.

Crosby is known for his ability to substitute words for similar sounding words to create a phrase that ultimately makes little sense, but is typically funny. He began his stand-up career in the 50s, has made hundreds of television appearances and been an actor on many series. Crosby was a fixture on “The Dean Martin Celebrity Roasts” on NBC, ridiculing and embarrassing his fellow comedians and entertainers. In 1967 he recorded a comedy record, “She Wouldn’t Eat The Mushrooms,” which is now available on CD.

Shore was founder of the Comedy Store on the Sunset Strip and the comedian hand-picked by Colonel Parker to be Elvis Presley's opening act during Elvis' “Comeback Tour” in Las Vegas.

A heavyweight night of comedy, “The Anti-Social Network” featuring host Jim Norton and comedians Dave Attell, Jim Breuer and Bill Burr, is set to make a stop at the Pearl at the Palms on Sunday, July 3. Tickets are $65 to $85.

In celebration of Independence Day, Caesars Palace will light up the Las Vegas sky with a fireworks display from the rooftop of the Roman Tower on Sunday, July 3 at 9:15 p.m., weather permitting.

Denny's is going to open a large restaurant in Neonopolis downtown.

Club Nikki at Tropicana Las Vegas celebrated its grand opening by hosting “The Official After Party” for pop superstar Britney Spears' Femme Fatale Tour on June 25.

The Matinee Las Vegas Festival with DJs, performers, specialty acts and productions direct from Spain, will be held at the Siegel Group's Rumor Boutique Hotel, July 1 – 4. Rumor will host the international extravaganza, a Welcome Party on July 1, and daily pool parties. The event will also feature five dance events at Vegas' nightclubs and pools.

Also, Rumor Boutique Hotel will hold Yappy Hour for pooches on Thursdays, July 7 and 21 from 6– 9 p.m. Yappy Hour features drink specials, tempting Yappatizers, and pet-friendly product displays in the courtyard.

The “BeatleShow!” at the Saxe Theater inside Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood celebrated its three-year anniversary this month.

The Palms and 9 Group will kick off world-renowned DJ Clinton Sparks' Awesome Party, with back-to-back performances on July 8 and 9. The multi-platinum songwriter-producer will play host and perform at Ditch Friday at Palms Pool & Bungalows on Friday, July 8 and kick off his residency performance with his Awesome Party at Moon Nightclub on Saturday, July 8.

The V Theater recently celebrated the five-year anniversary of Stripper 101, the pole dancing class seen on E! News, the “Kendra” reality show and in “Cosmopolitan Magazine.” Each Stripper 101 class is approximately 75 minutes.

Strip House at Planet Hollywood is one of 50 restaurants around the country participating in Northwest Cherries’ Tree-to-Table campaign. Tree-to-Table pairs one restaurant from each state in the country with 30-pounds of Rainier cherries and tasks them with creating a dish that showcases the cherries. Strip House's cherry menu item will be available by request exclusively on Monday, July 11 - National Rainier Cherry Day.

Following the landing, Marché Bacchus owner Jeff Wyatt will saber champagne bottles and have a toast with dining guests.

EL CORTEZ HONORS VEGAs' MENU HISTORY

The El Cortez downtown is continuing the celebration of its storied past by introducing vintage dining and cocktail menus in honor of its 70th anniversary. To fuel guests' excitement for the anniversary, the historic hotel-casino has dusted off some of Las Vegas' old recipe books and reintroduces a few classic favorites from some of Las Vegas' famed restaurants.
