WAVES flight attendant and author, Billye Grymwade will talk about the Navy at the free American Veterans Program on Tuesday, June 7, at 1 p.m. in the Pavilion Theater at the Ramada Express.
Grymwade enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1944 and became a flight attendant on Navy transport aircraft in 1946. She is the author of "MATS and Me: WAVES Flight Attendants," a fictional account of women in the U.S. Navy (WAVES-Women Accepted for Voluntary Emergency Duty) and their experiences, including tragedies, adventures, and romances while serving as flight attendants in MATS (Military Air Transport Service) squadrons.
Discharged from the Navy in 1950, Grymwade went to work for the NACA (National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics, forerunner of NASA), as secretary to three aeronautical engineers. At the age of 59, she returned to school and at 62, earned a B.S. degree with a major in psychology. Grymwade lives in Ventura, Calif.

Australia's Thunder From Down Under bronzed men, since the group's creation in 1989, have performed in 15 countries and entertained more than 14 million women. The group's latest production features many new numbers including trips back to the 50's and 70's as well as Vegas-style costumes, high-tech lighting and sound and award-winning dancing.
Their impressive physical shape and great personalities have made Thunder a favorite as guests for network television appearances. Most recently, they have appeared on "The Surreal Life 3" on VH1 and the "2004 World Music Awards" on ABC.

The Survivor Antarctica Slot Tournament is set for Sept. 18-20. A total of $78,000 in cash will be waiting for the tournament survivors to claim their share with first place paying $25,000*. Event features a $4,000 "Survivor Bonus," where one of 16 players will win $1,000, and pays to 90th place. Entry fee is $550.
The Boot Camp Slot Tournament is scheduled for Nov. 11-13, with $49,900 in prize money. First place will pays $10,000* and the entry fee is $350.
