At 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. daily, it's feeding time for the koi at the north and south ends of the Colorado Belle on the bridges across the moat and on the riverwalk bridge. An employee brings the koi food in a bucket and distributes it to visitors who would like to help feed the fish. Each person who participates receives a special commemorative cup.
In 1997, following a general overhaul of the moat, it was stocked with 100 koi. Plants have been added to improve the environment for the fish. Koi, or "Nishikigoi," have been bread and revered in Japan for centuries. What's fascinating is no two are alike.
