At 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. daily, it's feeding time for the koi at the north and south ends of the Colorado Belle on the bridges across the moat and on the riverwalk bridge. An employee brings the koi food in a bucket and distributes it to visitors who would like to help feed the fish. Each person who participates receives a special commemorative cup.

In 1997, following a general overhaul of the moat, it was stocked with 100 koi. Plants have been added to improve the environment for the fish. Koi, or "Nishikigoi," have been bread and revered in Japan for centuries. What's fascinating is no two are alike.

Gurtman and Murtha will present the New Shanghai Circus at the Ramada Express, April 21-24, at 8 p.m. This show will feature acrobatic performers from the Peoples Republic of China. Tickets are $15, call 1-800-243-6846.

The Laughlin River Run is set for April 24-28. The event will bring more than 50,000 motorcyclists to the community for four days of top name entertainment, drill team events, poker runs, displays, competitions and vendors galore. The event is billed as the largest ride-in bike rally in the West.

The majority of the bikes will be the legendary Harley Davidsons; however, plenty of brands will be represented. This will be the second year for the Bullhead Area Chamber of Commerce to sponsor the Harley Days Trade Fair.

Classic jazz and rock band, Blood, Sweat and Tears, will headline on April 27 at Harrah's. Their self-titled album garnered a Grammy award and featured hits liked "You've Made Me So Very Happy," "And When I Die," and "Spinning Wheel." Tickets are $23 and $28.

The River Palms will be holding free concerts every afternoon and evening, April 24-27. Some of the groups performing daily are Powderhouse, Rudy T, Luke and the Locomotives and Rocket 88's.

The Mid-night Special at the Flamingo is a T-bone steak and eggs with your choice of toast and eggs cooked to order. The price is $1.99, Friday through Wednesday, from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m.

The Miss Hawaiian Tropic Laughlin Beauty Pageant will be returning to the Colorado Belle over River Run weekend. On Friday, visitors can have their photo taken with the ladies and vote for their favorite "Bikers Choice Award." On Saturday, during the pageant, it will be time to cheer for the ladies in the pageant sponsored by the Colorado Belle and Smirnoff Ice.

No sooner will the River Run end and the five-day Cinco de Mayo celebration will begin, May 1-5. Victory Plaza at the Ramada Express will be a "Fiesta Village" for the celebration. The resort will feature a fiesta cart of cash and prizes, a slot tournament, and an all-you-can-eat Mexican buffet. There will be plenty of Margaritas too!

Why not try a local experience when you visit Laughlin? The Friends of the Laughlin Branch Library will be hosting their annual Moonlight Cruise fundraiser on May 6.

The event will be held on the Celebration riverboat, which will depart from the Flamingo's boat dock at 6:15 p.m. LuAnn Kruz will provide the entertainment by singing and playing the guitar. There will be hors d'oeuvres and a no-host bar. Ticket are $15, call 702-298-1081 for information.

The Edgewater is offering players the opportunity to learn table games by using Win Cards. These cards are an easy reference guide to the correct odds and payoffs and can be obtained by completing a Win Packet Rack Card, which can be found at several locations, including the front desk and One Club Booth. For $10, the cage will issue a player $15 in casino chips, and a free set of Win Cards.

A fun activity break in Laughlin is bowling at Don Laughlin's Riverside. The 34-lane bowling alley is located on the second floor with lockers, a snack shop, a nearby Hall of Fame bar, and a Kids Kastle supervised child care center. The Riverside Lanes are open 24 hours on Friday and Saturday, and from 7 a.m. until 2 a.m., Sunday through Thursday. For information, call 702-298-2535.

The Riverside also features movies in six state-of-the-art movie theaters, all with THX surround-sound systems. The movies are first-run and there's a concession stand and full-service bar.
