Due to overwhelming demand, the Eagles will return to the MGM Grand Garden Arena on Saturday, May 22, with their "Farwell 1" concert. The band, Glenn Frey, Don Henley, Joe Walsh and Timothy B. Schmit, will perform songs from their 30-year career including their current double-platinum CD, "Eagles - The Very Best Of," which includes their Grammy-nominated single, "Hole In The World." The Eagles have performed more than 70 concerts since kicking off their "Farewell I" tour in May 2003. The Eagles have sold more than 120 million albums worldwide, earning five No. 1 U.S. singles, five No. 1 albums and four Grammy Awards. The Eagles were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1998, their first year of eligibility. "Their Greatest Hits 1971-1975" has been certified platinum by the RIAA as the best selling album of all-time, with 28 million units sold throughout the United States.

The seventh annual VH1 Divas concert benefiting The Music Foundation will return to the MGM Grand Garden Arena on Sunday, April 18. The 6 p.m. event will be aired live on VH1. Patti LaBelle and Jessica Simpson are scheduled to perform and additional performers, presenters and special guests will be announced in the near future. Since VH1 Save The Music was created in 1997, more than $25 million worth of musical instruments has been donated to 1,000 public schools in 80 cities, improving the lives of more than 500,000 children.

Oscar De La Hoya will take a giant step to the middleweight division and Bernard Hopkins will defend his world middleweight titles "On a Collision Course to make History" at the MGM Grand Garden Arena Saturday, June 5. The championship boxing card will be televised and distributed live on HBO Pay-Per View. Tickets range from $100 to $800 plus applicable service charges; call Ticketmaster at 702-474-4000.

De La Hoya, who has won seven world titles in five weight divisions, will challenge undefeated WBO middleweight champion Felix Sturm of Germany. Hopkins, who has made 17 straight title defenses, will take on the IBF #1 rated contender Robert Allen of Stone Mountain, Ga.

The Supremes starring Mary Wilson, a founding member of the famed female group with Diana Ross, will bring their classic tunes to the stage of The Hideaway Showroom at the Silverton off I-15 on Saturday, April 3. Tickets Supremes are $14.99, call 1-866-946-4373 or 702-914-8557.

Between 1964 and 1969, The Supremes were hugely popular in the music world, charting an incredible string of twelve number one hits including, "Where Did Our Love Go?" "Stop! In The Name Of Love," "You Can't Hurry Love" and "Someday We'll Be Together." In all, The Supremes produced an incredible 33 top 40 hits by the time they disbanded in 1977.

Wilson went on to release her solo album, "Mary Wilson," which yielded the dance hit "Red Hot." She also penned several autobiographies, including the New York Times best-seller," Dreamgirl: My Life as a Supreme" and starred in three off-Broadway plays.

In April 2004, the 650-room Sam's Town located on Boulder Highway, will commemorate 25 years of business and kick off a celebration that will last throughout the year. On April 3 and 4, The Firelight Buffet will turn back the hands of time to feature lunch and dinner for the 1979 price of $6.49.

During the month of April, you can purchase special 25th anniversary leather jackets and silver slot coins. Each month for the rest of the year, Sam's Town will host special 25th anniversary tournaments, giveaways and casino promotions.

The 201-room Cannery in North Las Vegas in conjunction with KOOL 93.1 will presents Chuck Negron, formerly of Three Dog Night, in concert Saturday, April 10 at The Club, an indoor/outdoor venue. Tickets are $5 plus applicable taxes and fees at the ticket sales counter.

Negron, formerly of Three Dog Night will perform such classic hits as "Joy to the World," "Old Fashioned Love Song," "Black and White," and "Shambala."

Beginning last Tuesday, the Cannery started featuring free live performances in the Club through April 6 by the band Yellow Brick Road, a Las Vegas-based group of musicians who pay tribute to the classic rock / pop spectrum with an emphasis on details and inflections to mimic a wide variety of artists including Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, The Who, Queen, Rush, and Journey.

The "American Superstars" production show at the Stratosphere has added a Britney Spears Tribute featuring Kristie Fisher. She is one of the show's former dancers. Fisher performs a four-song set of some of Spears' biggest hits including "Toxic," "Oops, I Did It Again," "Stronger," and "Baby, Hit Me One More Time."

Like Spears, Fisher is a lifelong performer, who has also danced in "EFX" at the MGM Grand and toured extensively with shows in Ireland, Puerto Rico, Iceland and Hawaii. Fisher has been doing a Britney Spears tribute on the corporate event circuit for almost two years after a choreographer suggested that she had the same look and body type as Spears.

"American Superstars" also features talent paying tribute to Elvis, Christina Aguilera, Charlie Daniels, Ricky Martin and Michael Jackson. Tickets are $38.75 for adults and $27.75 for children ages 5 to 12, call 800-99-TOWER or 702-380-7711.

Sting will be returning to Las Vegas as part of a world tour. He'll play the MGM Grand Garden Arena on Sept. 24 with opening act Annie Lennox.

Popular vocalist and pianist Jimmy Hopper has closed a four year gig at Bellagio's Fontana Bar. He is beginning a tour as a headliner for Harrah's properties all over the country. Andy Vargas, lead singer for Carlos Santana's band, is taking over at the Fontana Lounge.

"X, An Erotic Adventure," formerly at the Aladdin, will debut in the Congo Room at the Sahara in April.

"X-treme Close-Up Magic" starring magician Steve Dacri has moved from being a dinner show as Sazio's restaurant in The Orleans to O'Shea's on the Strip. He performs shows at 3 and 5 p.m., Tuesday - Saturday, and 3, 5 and 7 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets range from $19.75 for an afternoon show to $38.50 for a VIP ticket and evening show.

With absolutely no fanfare, the Silver City Casino across the Strip from the Stardust has been torn down. A Ross Dress For Less and other retail will take over the vacated area.

Bellagio has unveiled a springtime exhibit in its Conservatory and Botanical Gardens. Featuring live butterflies, big mechanical butterflies covered completely in flowers, 100-year-old bougainvillea trees, Mosaiculture swans (the oversized Chia pet-looking bush sculptures), and a replica of France's Temple of Love at Versailles, the display will continue through May, with some elements changing for Easter and Mother's Day.

Binion's Horseshoe downtown is expected to reopen with new owners on April 1 and keep the name until Harrah's gives up operation to the MTR Gaming Group. At that time, MTR will keep the Binion's name and add the name "Speakeasy," and Harrah's will take the Horseshoe name. Meanwhile, this year's World Series of Poker tournament is slated to begin on April 22.

Flamingo headliner George Wallace has the role of a sheriff in the remake of the 1955 comedy "The Ladykillers" starring Tom Hanks as a villainous Southern professor.

Sam's Town on Boulder Highway received "What's On" magazine's visitor's choice award for favorite bingo room. Their room is no stranger to praise; it has previously been awarded "Favorite Bingo Room" by "What's On" every year since 2000. It has also been named "Best Bingo" and "Friendliest Bingo" by several other local publications. The resort holds eight daily sessions beginning at 9 a.m. and running every two hours until the last session of the day, at 11 p.m.

Peggy, the oldest of the singing DeCastro Sisters, has died at age 82. The trio performed worldwide for more than 60 years and had one hit song in 1955 "Teach Me Tonight." They began their local prominence at the Stardust as an opening act for Noel Coward in his only Las Vegas appearance in 1955. After that, they had gigs at the Desert Inn, Dunes, Sahara, Sands, Flamingo, The Orleans, MGM Grand, the International, Caesars Palace and the Silver Slipper. The group is honored in the Casino Legends Hall of Fame at the Tropicana.

Las Vegas Temple Beth Sholom will present The Two Cantors, talented tenors Alberto Mizrahi and Daniel Friedman, together for the first time, March 28 at 3 p.m. in concert at the Orleans Showroom. Together they'll sing "Songs of Life" a program that goes the gamut from operatic arias, to traditional Jewish songs and popular music. Tickets range from $18 to $100; call 702-804.1333 ext 127.

Bellagio, the first casino hotel in AAA history to earn Five Diamond status, recently unveiled the design for its new guest rooms both in the existing 2,602-room Bellagio Tower and the $375 million, 928-room Spa Tower, scheduled to open in December.

Nectar at the Bellagio has closed. The restaurant will be replaced by a new eatery from Andrew Sasson, the man behind Light at the Bellagio.

Upcoming wine dinners featuring the Louis Latour Winery will be held at Bullshrimp in Green Valley Ranch on March 30, cost $55, call 702-942-4110, and at Spiedini in the JW Marriott in Summerlin on March 31, price $55, call 702-869-8500.

Willy & Jose's Mexican Cantina, inside Sam's Town Hotel & Casino, was recently included among Las Vegas' top restaurants in the most recent issue of the 2004 Zagat Survey of Las Vegas Restaurants. Along Zagat's 30-point scale, the menu and food preparation earned 24 points and décor and service each earned 21 points. These ratings earned the eatery a "very good to excellent" overall rating. Customers raved about the fajitas overloaded with shrimp. other generous portions and reasonable prices.

A New Mexico woman recently hit the Megabucks at the Palms for $8,065,000. It was the first time Megabucks hit at the Palms, and the third time in Las Vegas in the last three months.

On March 27 and 28, Kim Flowers will hold auditions at John Robert Powers with special guest, independent casting director Joey Paul Jensen, who casts for major films and television shows on networks including the Disney Channel, Nickelodeon and the Cartoon Network. He will be auditioning for upcoming projects. Recently, Jensen cast "Heart of Summer" starring Hilary Duff, to be released later this year. For an appointment, call 702-878-7300.

The premiere resource book on Las Vegas' demographics and business information, the 2004 "Las Vegas Perspective." will be on sale at a special event to be held Tuesday, April 27 at the Orleans Arena. The 3 p.m. event is open to the public and will feature two prominent speakers in statistical and research fields. The cost for one book and a general admittance ticket is $40, call 702-256-1564.
