The Smothers Brothers, Tom and Dick, will be headlining in Don's Celebrity Theatre at the Riverside, Feb. 15-20 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $32, call 800-227-3849.

The irrepressible sibling duo has made a sweeping impact on diverse generations of fans over their 45 year career in show business. The Smothers Brothers' first professional appearance was at The Purple Onion in San Francisco in 1959 and their first national television appearance was on the Jack Paar show on Jan. 28, 1961.

Tom and Dick were born in New York City and attended San Jose State University. Tom was a gymnast and Dick was on the track team.

On the personal side, Dick can be found cycling, practicing yoga or conjuring up healthy cuisine. Tom's pastime passion is for golf and he's a master at the yo-yo. Tom also enjoys tending to his vineyard and his award-winning winery, Remick Ridge.

Over four decades of audiences have seen the Smothers Brothers in their own primetime comedy series in the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s guest appearances on numerous television programs, countless engagements as headliners in Las Vegas, Reno and Lake Tahoe and a hot-selling video. They've made 12 top-selling albums, done continuous coast-to coast concert tours and appeared with symphony orchestras.

The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour is now studied in universities across the country as an important factor in the revolutionary changes undergone in the United States during the 1960s.

"A Really Big Shew, America's Favorite Variety Show" running through April in the showroom at the Flamingo features Jerry Hoban as Ed Sullivan and is loosely based on the classic 1950s-'70s variety television "Ed Sullivan Show."

Hoban as host is the glue that gives the acts a point of reference.

Current acts in the show include Circus Boy Bobby Hunt; comedy magicians The Great Tomsoni & Company; Gino Walker performing a tribute to Aretha Franklin; and Bouncin' Dan the Paddleball Man. Tickets are $13.95 with a Connection Card and $14.95 without a card, call 800-435-8469.

Bobby Hunt provides a one-man circus act with juggling and balancing skills and the ability to ride anything with a wheel on it, including the "World's Smallest Bike." This prop-comic / stunt man has been featured with the Barnum and Bailey Circus as well as at Disneyland.

John Thompson as The Great Tomsoni attempts to awe the audience with his magical prowess while his gum-popping, blonde, bumbling bimbo sidekick feigns indifference to his "greatness." Most recently, Thompson has worked as a consultant to his protégé Lance Burton and to Penn & Teller.

Don Volk has taken a child's toy and tuned it into a true talent. His paddleball tricks have names and Volk has demonstrated and performed all over the world.

Gino Walker as Aretha Franklin gives the audience a ration of powerful music and earns their R.E.S.P.E.C.T.
