Known as "The Indian and the White Guy," William's & Ree will headline at the Avi on Feb. 12 in the River Garden Pavilion at 7 p.m. Tickets are $15.

The duo was first drawn together in 1968 when they learned that they shared the ability to make people laugh even if it came in the form of laughing at themselves. Bruce Williams and Terry Ree met at Black Hills State College in Spearfish, S.D., where they were both majoring in draft dodging. The two ended up playing together in a band, working the bars and college parties. The band, with a repertoire of 10 or 12 songs needed help filling time, so Williams and Ree jumped in with the ethnic jocularity. Soon their comedy became a bigger draw than the band and The Indian and the White Guy comedy team was born.

Playing on their differences is a large part of the Williams & Ree humor.

In addition to performing some 200 live concert dates a year, television has played a major role in their saga. After frequent guest spots on various Nashville Network programs, their appearances eventually developed into a regular guest-starring role on the popular cooking show, "Country Kitchen," with Florence Henderson in 1986. Throughout 1990 and 1991, Williams & Ree worked as regulars on "Hee Haw."

"Vicki Lawrence and Mama: A Two-Woman Show" will be appearing in Don's Celebrity Theatre at the Riverside, Feb. 9-13 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $34.

As a senior in high school, Lawrence sent a letter to Carol Burnett including a newspaper clipping mentioning a resemblance between the two. After meeting Lawrence at a local "Miss Fireball Contest," Burnett contacted her to play the role of her kid sister on a new television series "The Carol Burnett Show" that aired in 1967. During that 11-year television stint, Lawrence received a Gold Record for her international hit single, "The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia."

Lawrence took her character Mama, and went on to star in her own TV series, "Mama's Family," for five years. She also became the first successful female game show host when she took on the daytime version of "Win, Lose or Draw," and also hosted the daytime talk show "Vicki," which aired from 1992-1994.

In 1995, Lawrence published her autobiography, "VICKI! The True Life Adventures of Miss Fireball."

The Colorado Belle's River Bar Happy Hour from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday, features $1 well drinks, wine, beer, and margaritas on the rocks. The River Bar is located on the casino floor.
