The first headlining act to perform at the Flamingo Laughlin this year will be '70s teen idol Donny Osmond, who is scheduled Valentine's week on Thursday, Feb. 16 at 7 p.m. in the Flamingo Ballroom. Osmond is back on stage singing his classics and new songs from his latest CD "What I Meant To Say." Tickets are $19.95 and $24.95 plus tax, call 1-800-435-8469.
Since making his debut at age six on "The Andy Williams Show," Osmond has shown the world he is an enduring artist, who continues to evolve, grow and re-define himself in the music of his time. For more than 42 years, the world has watched him develop from a cherubic little boy singing on TV with his older brothers to a seasoned performer.
By the time Osmond was a teenager, he had become one of the most popular and successful stars in the history of pop music. In 1971, between his own and the Osmond Brothers recordings, he was awarded six gold records. The following year, he took home eight and another four in 1973. On his own, Osmond had a No. 1 hit with "Go Away Little Girl." With his sister Marie, he had a third wave of hit records and enjoyed yet another kind of success co-hosting a weekly variety TV series "The Donny and Maria Show."
In 1989, 13 years after his previous Top 40 chart-maker, Osmond hit the No. 2 spot on the charts with the release of "Soldier of Love," which also hit the Top 30 in the U.K.
