Charlie Prose's "Laughin' Out Loud - The Tour" is appearing at the Riverside with guest star David Grayson, Jan. 25 - 28 and Feb. 2 - 12, at 7 p.m. nightly in Don's Celebrity Theatre. Tickets are $27.50, call 800-227-3849.
International favorite Prose, who is returning to Don Laughlin's Riverside, holds the record for most performances over 1,000 in Don's Celebrity Theatre. With his blend of homespun comedy, energetic piano styling and romantic songs, Prose, born Charles Procopio and raised in the small coal mining community of Mt. Carmel, Pa., is described as the entertainment world's answer to the Swiss army knife.
Prose's first exposure to music came early as the youngest of four boys. At age 5, he began classical piano lessons, and at 13 bought a used saxophone from a Nabisco cookie salesman.
Prose's comedy recordings have sold millions of copies, and he uses this to obtain and keep new fans. Every fan letter that Prose receives is answered in an attempt to keep in personal touch with his fans.
He has produced two full-length videos, "An Evening With Charlie Prose" and "Love and Laughter With Charlie Prose," both of which have gone over the million dollar mark in sales, and last year were certified Platinum by the International Recording and Media Association.
The 2 p.m. afternoon comedy show, "Laughternoon in Laughlin" recently returned to Harrah's Fiesta Showroom and will run through April 17, Tuesdays through Saturdays. Tickets are $6.95 plus tax, call 702-298-8510. Total Reward members receive a discount when presenting their players club card.
The show stars Nick Lewin, a native of London, England, who began performing magic at age 11 at birthday parties and went on to perform at the famed Magic Castle in Hollywood, Calif.
Lewin's show is a blend of lightening fast magic and quick wit pulled together with the help of his little bag of magic tricks. Using topical humor and sleight of hand, Lewin performs his signature trick, which is linking together finger rings from random audience members.
Lewin has appeared in more than 50 acting roles and in such television productions as Steven Spielberg's "Amazing Stories" and the soap opera "Dynasty." He has also appeared on many comedy presentations on network and cable channels such as Fox, Showtime and HBO.
Lewin's sleight of hand skill was featured in the tightly filmed and choreographed gambling scenes in the CBS Movie of the Week, "The Gambler" starring country singer, Kenny Rogers.
Lewin also produced and hosted the national cable show, "The Entertainment Files," which earned him the Star Sapphire Halo Award from the Southern California Motion Picture Council.
